NEXT WEEKEND IS OUR MARY’S MEALS WEEKEND On 24th & 25th September we’ll have our annual Mary’s

Meals weekend with speakers from the charity, collection

of used clothes etc and sale of annual raffle tickets.

Our Rags To Riches appeal allows you to donate clothing

and textiles* to be turned into money to help us reach the

next child waiting for Mary’s Meals.

*Three bags of your old clothes could generate

enough money to feed a child in school for a year.

By donating your unwanted textiles you can help raise

funds to help feed some of the world’s poorest children

and ensure they receive an education. Working together,

we believe that can be achieved in this world of plenty.

By providing one good meal in a place of learning, children are drawn into the classroom

where they can receive an education that could one day free them from poverty.

At most, we spend just 7pence of every £1 donated on governance

and fundraising. For every £1 you give to us, we spend a minimum

of 93p on our charitable activities.

There are many ways to help by donating your time, money, skills and prayers.

Mary's Meals today is feeding 1,101,206 of the world’s

poorest children every day they attend school.

D IOC ESA N CH ANG ES We are pleased to announce Bishop Stephen has appointed Fr. Martin Pletts as the new parish priest of St. James Kinross, admin-istrator of St. Matthew’s, Auchtermuchty and chaplain to Kilgraston College. This will take place officially from 1st October 2016. From that date Fr. Mike is no longer canonically responsible for the area.

However, Fr. Martin had agreed with Fr. Mike many months ago to take a weeks holiday and also at the end of October St. James’ Church will be consecrated. So Fr. Mike will continue to be involved in St. James’s until the end of October and contributing in the hand over and reorganizing of mass and a few other small things. Fr. Martin will belong to the Deanery of Perth but we will still be counting on him to share his gifts with us every now and then.

Congratulations to Fr. Martin in his new ministry and many thanks for all the help he has offered in St. Bernadette’s over the past year.

Responsibility please! JUBILEE OF THE SICK AND ELDERLY

During our masses on 22nd & 23rd October the sick are invited to fill the front benches and the corridor seats. During these masses we will cele-brate the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.

NUNRAW PILGRIMAGE

We are talking with the abbot of Nunraw Cistercian Abbey about a small pilgrimage there for the

Jubi lee Year of Mercy

So far we know it will be Saturday 8th

October probably meeting in St. Bernadette’s church at 8 am for prayer and leaving at 8.15am. At the abbey we will celebrate mass. Probably we will have oth-er moments of prayers. Cost for the bus should be £13. You can go in your own car if you wish.

We’ll be back for 4pm because of the Vigil mass.

2 CIBORIA (CIBORIUM) REPLATED WITH SILVER AT A COST OF £650.

This we have been waiting to do for a long time. The ciborium we have been using is Fr. Mike’s personal one. It is important the parish has its own chalices and ciborium for mass as well as keeping the Sacrament for the sick.

SMALL AMPLIFIER, KARIOKE BOX AND HYMN BOOK

The Saturday vigil mass is struggling to sing as we have no organist. We invested in an amplifier and CDs (bought for about £460) so we can now play just the music to hymns and control it with a remote control.

Hopefully we will have volunteers coming forward who will be willing to control this during mass.
