SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES Sunday: Thirty-third Sunday in
Ordinary Time Monday: The Dedication of the Basilicas of Ss. Peter
and Paul; St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Thursday: The Presentation
of the Blessed Virgin Mary Friday: St. Cecilia Saturday: St.
Clement I; St. Columban; Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro; Blessed Virgin
Mary
Message from the Pastor Welcome to St. Ambrose we are so happy
that you could join us today to celebrate the Thirty-third Sunday
in Ordinary Time. Today’s readings take a fearless look at reality
and reach a conclusion that we all know: life is hard. The prophet
Malachi preaches fire and brimstone, warning us that evildoers will
perish in flames. Saint Paul offers his own warning to the
Thessalonians: keep busy, but never become a busybody. He reminds
Christians that the apostles themselves worked in “toil and
drudgery” as a model for how we ought to contribute to our
community. The Gospel returns to the apocalyptic tone of Malachi,
describing the utter chaos of the end-times. We will know the end
is near when violence, catastrophe, and hatred dominate the earth.
But we must not fear! God’s saving plan brings peace to our hearts.
Malachi speaks of the sun’s “healing rays,” and Jesus himself
promises to protect every hair on our heads.
Have a great week—and remember to count your blessings. May God
bless you always,

PASTOR’S MUSING A local community club was organizing a baseball
team. They could only muster eight players, and were hard put to
find a ninth. In desperation, they called on a new member, a very
reserved Englishman who had just moved into the neighborhood from
London, to join their team. During their first game, the Englishman
came to bat. On the very first pitch, he knocked the ball out of
the park. The team members stood there, dumfounded. Unfortunately,
so did the Englishman. “Run!” his teammates cried. “For Pete’s
sake, run!” The Brit turned and stared at them icily. “I jolly well
shan’t run,” he replied. “I’m perfectly willing to buy you chaps
another ball.”
NEW PARISHIONERS Welcome to the Faith Community of St. Ambrose.

Your generous support of our Parish and your help with the needs
of our community through your ongoing
participation in our various ministries is greatly appreciated!
November 9th & 10th, 2019—$13,237.00
Second Collection—$8,424.00 Second Collections
Each weekend at St. Ambrose we have second collection at our
Masses. Those collections have two purposes. Once each month the
Archbishop
designates a second collection for different needs (example:
Peter’s Pence, Retired Religious, Seminary Burse). The rest of
these collections are to meet
the special needs of our Parish and School.
Campaign for Human Development Please be generous in this week’s
special collection, which supports the
Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In the United States,
one in six people live in poverty. Through this collection you
support programs that
address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future
for people across the country who struggle. In addition 25% of the
funds we collect will remain in our diocese to fund local
antipoverty projects. Please prayerfully
consider how you can support this collection and work on the
margins. More information about the Catholic Campaign for Human
Development can be
found at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection.
IN THEATERS DEC 2 Faustina: Love and Mercy
Second date added due to popular demand - check back often for
new locations setting up! In 1931, Jesus appeared to Faustina
Kowalska as the King of Mercy. Clothed in a white robe and
emanating two large rays from his side, one white and one red, He
asked Faustina to paint this image of Himself along with the
phrase, "Jesus, I trust in You" and to spread the message of mercy
around the world. He promised that anyone who venerated this image
would not perish. The gripping new docudrama LOVE AND MERCY
presents unknown facts and recently
disclosed documents that shed new light on the vision of
Faustina. Aided by scientific analysis, the film reveals how the
Divine Mercy image and the Shroud of Turin were compared to one
another to stunning conclusions. Dramati-cally recreated scenes
between Saint Faustina and her confessor Father Michał Sopoćko
traces the story of the origins of the image and how the devotion
to Divine Mercy was born and spread throughout the world despite a
ban of the devotion by the Catholic Church. Shot in the U.S.,
Poland and Lithuania, the film is a compelling hybrid of
dramatization and documentary-style storytelling that will leave
viewers in awe of this spectacular account of divine
friendship.
