Celebrating Labor!
Dear friends: as we take time to celebrate La-
bor Day 2018, I want to take a moment to honor two groups of people! The first group is those who worked so hard with their minds and hands to create the foun-dation of our beautiful State. Individuals who were innovative and who were not afraid of good hard la-bor. Their efforts and their sacrifice have made it pos-
sible for us to enjoy all that our State has to offer. The second group that I would like to honor today are all those individuals who have shown each of us how to apply our God given talents in a positive way by doing the same themselves. They have set an example that we should all be honored to follow. Thus
let us enjoy this weekend and then on Tuesday get back to doing what they have done and that is bring the best out in us, the best out in one another, and the best out in our State.
God’s continued peace! Fr. Yvon

St. Gregory the Great, also called Saint Gregory I, (born c. 540, Rome [Italy]—died March 12, 604, Rome; Western feast day,
September 3 [formerly March 12, still ob-served in the East]), pope from 590 to 604, reformer and excellent administrator, “founder” of the medieval papacy, which
exercised both secular and spiritual power. His epithet “the Great” reflects his status as a writer as well as a
ruler. As the fourth and final of the traditional Latin Fa-thers of the Church, Gregory was the first exponent of a truly medieval, sacramental spirituality.
