God continues to bless and recently we had three more baptisms. Joselyn Neal, Marta Guerrero and Jose Antonio Garcia were obedient in baptism and, on Sunday night after their bap-tisms, they were presented with baptismal certificates. This makes 20 baptisms this year. Marta was on the list of those for whom you prayed. Thank you.

New Christians

The enlargement of the new sanctuary is now completed and several men of the congregation painted the inside and outside of the building. Orlando Ramirez and those who helped him did a beautiful job.

We had the dedication service on August 17th. Two brothers who grew up in the mountains led the singing, one playing the electric guitar. Enrique, who played the guitar, is working with his dad, Santos, in Tela. Antonio, who led the singing, is working with a new congregation near La Lima, East of San Pedro Sula. Carlos Cojon, from Omoa, gave the message on Proverbs 3:1-10. Carlos and his wife, Pati, work with Lifeline Mission and are in charge of the orphanage in Omoa.

Completion and Dedication of the Enlargement of the Sanctuarygiven to her saying: “For your service in love for the com-munity of Las Brisas de Chamelecon, being an instrument useful in the hands of our Lord, Jesus Christ, blessing many souls.” There were testimonies given by several members of the congregation telling how Madonna had blessed their lives. Immediately after the service a meal was served by the women of the congregation.

Visitors who came were Bill and Mark Hoff and Julio, Suyapa and their son, Julio, from San Pedro Sula, and the two brothers from Tela and La Lima and several people who came with Carlos from Omoa.

The new auditorium is really beautiful and is large enough to seat about 200 people now.

On July 25th, Tom Schneller came with the two ministers of the con-gregation from San Pedro Sula and the wife and son of Julio Corea, one of the ministers. Also were a group from Chester Christian Church who had come to do a VBS at the new congregation in Puerto Cortes. John and Madonna were happy to welcome Neil and Carol Wheeler who min-ister to the congregation. Madonna made them happy when she shared three kinds of cookies she had baked. Also with them was Ben Poland of Verona, Kentucky, who is a student at Johnson University, Tennes-see. Madonna took them over to see the clinic and the picture of Madonna with the group was taken there. Ben left his back pack, so Ma-donna hurried to try to catch up with the group and managed to catch them about 5 1/2 kilometers from Las Brisas. Madonna got a cheer from the group and Ben was happy to see his back pack.

Ayote translated into English means either gourd or pumpkin. After being cooked, it seems more like a gourd. Orlando Ramirez, the builder who did the renovation of the church building, grows these and gave us two of them. They were so big we divided them with Tomas, the man who keeps our grounds up. Madonna used a recipe she has had since the 60’s that she got from Carol Kelley when they served to-gether at Chidamoyo Mission in Rhodesia, to make several loaves of “gourd” or “pumpkin” bread. Every-one loved the bread. She took half a loaf to Bill and Margie Hoff. Mark, their son, was there and he said he needed the recipe. Madonna shared about 6 or 7 of the loaves with some of our friends here in Las Brisas. Since Orlando gave us the ayote, he and his family got two loaves. His son, Josue, really loved them.

Tobin and Amy Hill brought Daniel Stec, a male nurse from Martinsville, Indiana, to spend a couple of nights with us. He en-joyed observing in the clinic for the time he was here. Madonna’s sister, Marilyn, had met him at the I.C.O.M. last year and had given him one of Madonna’s books. Tobin and Amy and their three children came to pick him up on June 25th.

John and Madonna finished 20 years living in Las Brisas de Cham-elecon on July 1st. It is hard to believe we have been here that long. But, recently in the clinic, we had Betsaida Valladares with her youngest son in the clinic and she was born in Las Brisas after we arrived. She has an-other son about 3 years old.

Twenty Years in Las Brisas

One of Madonna’s recent patients in the clinic was this little girl with beautiful eyes. Madonna took the picture to get the fancy hairdo, but when it came out, the eyes really showed up. Her

mother, Jackie, from Bajamar, was in Madonna’s first class at VBS back in 1993.

We had a catastrophe in the bath-room. John had removed the structure from both sides of the basin to clean out the termites. The basin held in place for a while, but then down she went and out came the water full force from the rain water tank. It looked like the Grand Cou-lee over-flowing!!! We put in a new ba-sin and the s t r u c t u r e around it and painted the room blue, as you can see. No more ter-mites have appeared.
