Madonna was surprised and humbled to be honored by the Christian Church Ministers in Honduras on April 5th. She caused a bit of a panic among the ministers as, when Herma-no Reyno, our minister, told her of the meeting she reminded him that we don’t drive at night. To solve the problem, Mark Hoff told his parents they needed to invite us to spend the night with them and they would take John and Madonna to the meeting. Madonna was presented with a beautiful silver dish that says in Spanish: “The Christian Churches of Honduras award a special recognition to Sister Madonna Burget Spratt in honor of a life dedicated to missionary work in Honduras.” Psalms 126:5: “Those who sow in tears shall reap with a joy-

showed videos of her time in Zimbabwe, India and Honduras. Also, several people whom she knew from their time serving in the Merendon Mountains gave her greetings via video and thanked her for sharing Christ with them. The ministers sang two special numbers and some of them also shared about how Madonna had helped them. Madonna was presented with the dish and also was shown a plaque that will be placed at the Campgrounds. After that, a delicious meal was served with lots of pictures taken after the meal.

one of Madonna’s helpers in the clinic in the mountains and her daughter, Maritza, and her husband, Luis, are ministering to the new congregation at Puerto Cortés.

after ministering in the mountains, he is now serving the congregation at Area Gonzales, East of San Pedro Sula.

During the time that John and Madonna were serving in the mountains, a troubled young man, Jaime Orellana robbed them several times and also stole money from the clinic. He had been a Christian, but strayed from the Lord. He was finally put in jail for a few years. At the meeting honoring Madonna he gave one of the testimonies asking John and Madonna for forgiveness for what he had done. Not long after that, Antonio Orellana, a nephew of Jaime, brought him to visit John and Madonna at Las Brisas. Jaime brought two of his daughters with him. He now has six children and one grandson. Madonna shared a meal with them and Jaime began asking forgiveness. When he robbed us he was only around 18 years old and now is close to 40.

God is continuing to bless in that nine more people have given their lives to Christ and have been obedient in baptism. In March Edwin Velasquez, Dilver Velasquez, Ersi Velasquez and Marlon Velasquez were baptized. These are all cousins and grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Hermana Blasina who has been such an example to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Then in May, Omar Figuero and Benjamin Belisle were baptized and earlier this month Gilberta Mejia, Maria Ponce and Walter Mateo were baptized. Gilberta Mejia, for many years, was the local midwife of the village and is 78 years young. We just added her to the prayer list in our last newslet-ter. Also Edwin and Ersi were on the list. In the list is Ariel who is attending the Pentecostal Church and in the list for those to return to the Lord, Ruth has recommitted her life to Christ and Juan and Jose Elias are attending the Pentecostal Church.

As you can see by the pictures, the enlargement will make the building almost twice as big. Looking at the interior pic-tures, the scissor trusses that were on the original building are being used with 2 x 4 extensions. The green building was the original. The enlargement needed to be done due to many more attending services.

On Sunday night it was standing room only. Until we can get back in the building, the evening services are being held ei-ther on the front yard of one of our members or at the Commu-nity Center. The Sunday morning service is held in our living room. The builder in charge is Orlando Ramirez (in the green t-shirt), a member of the congregation. He is using mostly mem-bers of the congregation to help him.

Thanksgiving1. Madonna is thankful for the honor she was given

by the Honduran ministers.2. For Jaime Orellana returning to the Lord and for

his visit with his daughters and nephew, Antonio.3. For the nine people who have recently given their

lives to Christ --Edwin, Dilver, Ersi, Marlon, Omar, Benjamin, Gilberta, Maria and Walter.

4. For such an increase in attendance that we needed to enlarge the church building.

5. For being able to use our living room for Sunday morning services.

6. For Madonna’s recovery of the atrial fibrillation and John’s good health.

We do have some precious children in our congregation. Recently two of them were at the clinic. The older girl is Yasterly Velasquez, the granddaughter of our minister. His daughter just completed her nursing course and is learning by helping us in the clinic. She was taking care of her niece.

The little one is the granddaughter of Hermana Eva, who has been Madonna’s clinic helper for many years now. Emily is the daughter of her youngest daughter, Bessie. In our last news-letter she was pictured with her parents when she was just a small baby. She is growing fast!

Prayer Requests1. Please continue to pray for the salvation of Marco Alejandro,

Fredi, Ismael, Lorena, David, Azucena, Japhet, Marilyn, Eliphat, Ariel, Fani, Marta, Dilcia, Jose Angel, Marlen, and Reynaldo.

2. Please continue to pray for those who need to return to the Lord. Gustavo, Antonio, Anibal, Leslie, Dayana, and Yolani.

3. Pray for Madonna and John that they will continue to be able to share Christ with the people of Las Brisas and that they will con-tinue to enjoy good health.

4. Pray for Jaime Orellana that he will continue faithful to the Lord along with his wife and six children.

5. Pray for the new Christians to be faithful and grow in the Lord.6. Pray for Orlando Ramirez and his helpers as they complete the
