    NEED OF STUDY

o At present, S.P.A. operates from three locations. The planning dept. and the architecture dept. arehoused in different buildings in different plots.

o There are 11 distinct departments presently andall of them are flourishing units in themselvespossessing a wealth of knowledge and resources. They are supervised and run by the best and mostexperienced faculty of the country. But physicalsegregation of the institution means that there isvery little interaction between the students andfaculty of the various departments. The resourceof the institute can not be utilized fully.

o In the planning building itself, the location of thestudios and the faculty areas is such that onedoes not get to know about other studios on theirway.

o Hence, inter-department interaction is minimal.
