SAN FRANCISCO CITY HALL is proudly referred to as the “Crown Jewel”of the city. As long ago as 1915 when this City Hall opened, Mayor James Rolph Jr.proclaimed,“I take pride in this building because it typifies the spirit of San Francisco.Threetimes she has been destroyed by fire, and each time she has risen more magnificently.”
On January 5, 1999, this French Renaissance-style Beaux Arts landmark once again rose likethe mythical phoenix. Over 15 years after the Loma Prieta earthquake shook the foundationand cracked the walls, the beautiful dome now soars 306 feet above the ground with itslovingly restored 24-carat gleaming gold for the entire city to enjoy.
One of the goals in restoring City Hall was to make it accessible to the people of SanFrancisco. To this end, the doors of City Hall have been opened to the public for their specialevents and occasions. Inside you will find a magnificent space to hold any type of event—fromsimple wedding ceremonies to grand balls. We invite you to come and visit the beautifullyrestored City Hall and see how it can accommodate all your event needs.
