Welcome to the November edition of ROSSINGTON TODAYROSSINGTON TODAY.

A bumper issue this month, with additional pages to cope with the demand for space. We welcome several new advertisers, as well as many regular ones.

I am really pleased that we have a great Restaurant review, our first in some time. Turn to page 12 to read about our return visit to The White Horse Inn, Misson.

We also have several pages of money off vouchers all for local shops and services. It is great to be able to support our local busi-nesses and even better when there is an added money saving incentive for doing so! Please do take advantage of the vouchers, if the businesses get a good response from them I am sure that we will be able to offer lots more money saving offers in the future.

The December edition will be delivered from 28th November. Please ensure that anything that you would like to be included in it is with me by Friday 12th November. The December magazines are always very popular so don’t leave it too late to contact me if you would like to book an advert in this edition.

Cause for a Cuppa

Hello again from the “Cuppa” headquarters. It is really encouraging to hear of people who read this little article. Why don’t you email or text me with your own victory or struggle as a parent/carer. One thing I have dis-covered is that for every parent who struggles with an issue and seeks help, there are 10 more who feel embarrassed or consider themselves bad parents and maybe even beyond help.

Now there’s a phrase. “Bad parent” It doesn’t even sound very nice, does it? Karen (not her real name) was convinced she was one of those … bad parents. Her 12 year old daughter, who was always so sweet, gentle and kind has changed. In fact, Karen was quite convinced that this NEW daughter was an alien that has taken her daughter off to a distant planet to be replaced by herself. This NEW daughter back chats, is argumentative, then non-responsive and just plain difficult! Where have I gone wrong?! What is going on? I must be … a bad parent!

I knew where Karen was coming from. I’ve been there, done that and got a whole wardrobe of all sorts of clothes to prove it. Anyone out there who have had teens come through your house? I read something that was really liberating from best selling author, Rob Parsons. He said, when this happens, it is normal. “Normal!” I thought. So that means I am NOT a bad parent. What a relief!!

The message/battle of being a bad parent could come from within, without and possibly even from your own child. That one hurts the most. The good news is, if you are bothered at even the notion of being a bad parent, then that is really some good evidence that you are NOT a bad parent. Bad parents don’t care that they are bad parents. Remember, good parents are not perfect. There is not such a thing as a perfect parent.

There are loads of useful resources to help us in our roles as parents. If you need some help, check out www.careforthefamily.org.uk or you can contact me and I will be happy to recommend a few things. Also remember that parenting courses are available from us, the Family Centre and your local school. You are NOT alone. Just reach a hand out and someone will be there.

If you are struggling and need a chat, please feel free to ring (Eric Simpson, 07828141472 or email to [email protected])

ROSSINGTON HISTORY GROUP.

Remember, remember, the fifth of November.

James 1 succeeded Elizabeth 1 in 1604 and his reign saw the rise of radical Protestants or Puritans, who promoted thrift, education and private enterprise. They wanted to simplify church rituals and to limit the power of bishops and as they were well represented in Parliament, the King was anxious to appease them.

If the gunpowder plot planned for the State Opening on 5th November, 1605, had gone to plan, the Houses of Parliament would have been blown up and reduced to rubble; Westminster Abbey would probably have been flattened; and King James and his largely Protestant gov-ernment and Parliament would have been wiped out.

The ultimate aim was to restore civic rights to Roman Catholics. With monarch and Parliament out of the way, the plotters, a group of Catholic extremists, planned to place James’s nine year old daughter on the throne as a puppet monarch.

On the night of 4-5 November, Guy Fawkes, their explo-sives expert, was waiting by the 36 barrels of gunpowder they had smuggled underneath the Houses of Parlia-ment, ready to light the fuse. A mysterious warning sent to a Catholic peer telling him not to attend Parliament had aroused suspicion and guards were sent to check the cellars. Guy Fawkes was arrested and tortured until he named his co-conspirators, who were rounded up and tried. To no avail, most pleaded not guilty: they were sentenced to be hung, drawn and quartered. As he was being hanged, Fawkes jumped off the gallows, breaking his neck before his executioners could imple-ment the next two grim steps.

Unsurprisingly, the Catholic cause suffered a severe set-back: emancipation took another 200 years. To cele-brate his survival, King James declared that his subjects should light great bonfires every November 5th. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Doncaster Local History Fair.

The annual history fair was held at Doncaster Museum on Saturday 18th September. There were displays by 18 groups showing many aspects of local history and there was something to interest eve-ryone. The fair was not as well attended as in previous years, possibly because the museum is fairly isolated and does not have easy access to public transport or parking. This year’s talks were: “Hyde Park Cemetery” presented by Richard Bell and “Sheffield Manor Lodge” by David Templeman. Many thanks to those of you who came to see us.

Rossington Welfare & Learning Centre A ‘get online’ open day was held on Thursday 21st October. It was a great day with lots of fun by everyone who attended. It was a great

opportunity for people to come down and have a look at the things they can do online such as tax your car or how to use eBay. It also gave people with no or very low computer skills the opportunity to come down and pick up the basics and have a go at using a computer.

Just because the open day has already taken place doesn’t mean you have missed the op-portunity to learn any of the skills that have been mentioned. These are all available through the basic IT course call my guide that we run at the centre. If you are interested call 01302 865936 and ask for Ruth.

If anyone would like any help in putting a CV together then give us a call and we can ar-range for you to come down and see someone who can help you. While you are here creat-ing a new CV why not use the opportunity to have a look at our job board which is updated every week with local jobs.

We also have some basic nail courses starting soon in our new Beauty Box training centre. We will be running a basic manicure course and a basic nail art course. If you are interested in either of these courses then call Ruth on 01302 8659336.

We also have a limited number of spaces left on the Maths & English Level 2 Courses at a

cost of £25 if you are interested then give RWLC a call on 01302 865936.

Shop Local! Independent businesses are vital

“Between 1961 and 2007 we lost 71% of our local shops and services including post offices, banks, butchers and grocers” (The Guardian, 2007) Alarmingly, at this rate of decline, it is estimated that traditional independent retailing could be wiped out within the UK in the next 15 years.

It makes sobering reading doesn’t it? Each year, national chains displace locally owned businesses across the country leading to so-called ‘clone high streets’. Is it any wonder that people are losing their sense of community? Research conducted in mainland UK argues that if independent retailers cease to trade, communities and towns will collapse as a result of the loss of social interaction, diversity and choice

We tend to shop where we think we’ll receive the best value for our time and money. What does it matter if the business is an independent trader or a national chain? Well it matters a lot...

Independent local businesses employ a wide variety of supporting services. They hire local architects, designers, carpenters and sign makers. They probably employ a local accountant, insurance broker, web designer and solicitor.

Local retailers and distributors also tend to carry a higher percentage of locally made goods than the chains.

All this leads to the ‘local multiplier effect’ and means that every pound spent in a local business returns around three and a half times that to the community.

In contrast, a chain typically uses a minimum of local services and their profits will be exported from the local community back to their corporate HQ.

Then there is the matter of choice and diversity. A local retailer will sift through available products and stock those he feels will appeal to his customer base. A single independent retailer may have a smaller selection than a big chain but multitudes of independents actually increase diversity.

Think about it: when a few buyers from national chains dictate what reaches consumers, our free-dom of choice is eroded and it is choice which helps to create a richer, more vibrant community.

Finally we must consider our communities character. When asked to name our favourite shop we almost always cite a unique local business. It seems we love the idea of distinctive businesses with local character but forget that their survival depends on our patronage.

It really is worth supporting local businesses because every time you spend money with a local trader you are supporting the continued strength and vitality of your community. So go local! As an added incentive for residents to purchase local products and services over the next month or two, we have a variety of savings and money off vouchers for readers to use. These vouchers are repeated in all 3 of my publications this month so while not all businesses may be based in your own town/village they are all within easy reach and are all locally owned independent businesses that would benefit from your custom.

This continues to draw a big crowd so make sure you wrap up warm, get your spot and you can also grab a burger or hot dog to keep you going. Entrance is free but donations are encouraged and as ever all the proceeds go towards very deserving causes within our community and around the world, so please come along and join in with the OOoos and AAaahs!

As usual over the festive season we’ll also be selling raffle tickets for our Grand Christmas Draw with fantastic prizes; 1st prize: city break for two, 2nd prize: Nintendo DS Lite, 3rd prize: a food hamper worth £100, 4th prize: £100 of petrol or diesel, and 5th prize: a fresh 15lb Turkey. Plus there are lots of other prizes too! Tickets will be on sale in many shops around the area (look out for the posters) and the draw will be made at 9pm on the 14th of December at The Oak pub in Tickhill. After the amazing sell-out success of last year we’re again selling ‘Magic Reindeer Food’ for your little ones to leave out for Santa’s reindeer. Again the food will be on sale in local shops and we’ll also be selling it on our stall at the Tickhill Christmas late night shopping event too.

Finally just to give you early warning of the dates when Santa’s Sleigh will be visiting us during December, when our smiling (and very fit) Lions will be trotting alongside to collect your kind donations and wish you a very merry Christmas.

Rossington Parish Council News

The agenda for the October meeting of the Parish Council illustrated how busy the Coun-cillors had been since the summer recess. As the police were not in attendance the Chairman invited the members of the public that were present to raise any matters that were causing concern.

1. Residents of Eland Close and the Atterby Drive area informed the Council that they had been subjected to numerous and prolonged instances of anti social behaviour by youths congregating in the recently completed play area on the Atterby Drive playing field. Exces-sive noise, alcohol consumption, and evidence of drug taking had been reported to both the Police and D.M.B.C. with no improvement in the situation, and residents were con-cerned that if steps were not taken to irradicate this behaviour their quality of life would be compromised and their properties could be damaged. After a general discussion the Chairman stated that he would raise the matter at his next scheduled meeting with the D.M.B.C. Neighbourhood Services Manager and stress that urgent action was required.

2. Residents from Bircotes Walk area on the Manor Farm estate voiced their concerns re-garding the possibility of a repeat of the serious flooding they had experienced in 2007 as there appeared to have been very little progress in works that would alleviate the threat. After a general discussion the Chairman agreed, on the resident’s behalf, to pursue the matter with the owners of the land concerned and to resurrect the Parish Council’s flood defence committee to ensure that all properties in Rossington were adequately protected in future.

In the Main agenda the Council received a presentation from Cheryl Wallace an employee of D.M.B.C. regarding recruitment of volunteers to run a sports development scheme in Rossington.

An open discussion took place regarding the importance of Rossington Library to the vil-lage resulting in a formal motion being adopted to support and promote the village library by all possible means.

A report stating that the sewage pollution in Holmes Carr wood had now been rectified was warmly greeted, and the Chairman congratulated the Parish Council for their work in identifying the problem, bringing it to the notice of the relevant authorities, and ensuring that those authorities had carried out works that had stopped the pollution.

Finally it was reported that the procurement process for the replacement bridge on Wad-worth lane was nearing completion and that D.M.B.C. would be responding to the Parish Council’s demands that this much missed facility would soon be replaced.

Having missed a couple of months the “brain teaser” bit is back.

Look into my eyes – the truth about Hypnotherapy Have you ever watched a stage hypnosis show? They are very funny. But afterwards, you may have wondered why anyone would volunteer to look so silly. And beyond that, what practical, therapeutic application is there for hypnosis? First, let's dispel any negative ideas you may have from seeing a stage hypnosis show. Stage show volunteers make a subconscious agreement to go into trance by the very act of volunteering. There are always one or two who volunteer to prove that hypnosis will not work for them, but a good stage hypnotist will spot them. If the subjects act silly during a show they can blame the hypnotist, "He made me do it!" Whether they realize it consciously or not, they were perfectly willing (at some level) to do whatever was suggested or they would not have done it! The number one fear people have about hypnosis is thinking that they will be out of control. If I could use hypnosis to control others I would be making a fortune getting the rest of the world to work for me! The truth is that you are in complete control during a hypnotic trance. No one can hypnotise you against your will and no one can make you do anything that goes against your morals, beliefs, ethics or principles while in a hypnotic trance. If you find a suggestion to be offensive, you can simply bring yourself back to full awareness. Hypnosis is simply a natural state of deep physical and mental relaxation. We pass through the hypnotic state daily as we go to sleep at night and as we awaken in the morning. A relaxed person accomplishes twice the work of a tense, nervous person with half the effort. There are many uses for hypnosis. The two which have received the most attention are smoking cessation and weight reduction. 30% of the people who use hypnosis to stop smoking never think about cigarettes again! And as most of us already know, diets do not work. Hypnosis works to uncover and eliminate the underlying cause of the excess weight. Hypnosis can even be used for Gastric Band Hypnotic surgery! Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool for self-improvement because it helps us tap our inner resources. Each of us has the answers to our problems within our subconscious. Hypnosis creates a bridge from the conscious mind to the subconscious. Your answers are then easily accessed. I am often asked what issues interest people who seek help from a hypnotherapist. There is an endless list of areas that can be addressed with hypnotherapy besides smoking and weight loss. Clients often wish to work on improving self-esteem, enhancing creativity, improving sports performance, relieving insomnia, tapping into their spirituality, overcoming pain issues, and for healing past traumas, to name just a few. I always recommend that my clients learn self hypnosis. It reinforces the work from their private sessions and speeds their recovery process. At the same time it will reduce their stress immensely. Take a moment right now to think of an area in your life which could be improved through positive programming and deep relaxation. My clients consistently report that they sleep more soundly and they are better able to cope with stress following their sessions. So Why not give it a try? To see how Coaching and Hypnotherapy can bring you closer to your dreams contact Paul on 01302 738449 or 07508 185287 to help you make your dreams become reality.

Rossington Community Celebrate! Local residents in Rossington all gath-ered together on Friday 15th October at the Holmescarr Centre to celebrate the completion of the Neighbourhood Alli-ance project and the good work that had taken place in the area.

Neighbourhood Alliance is a multi agency project which involves the Police, Doncaster Council, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, St Leger Homes, Doncaster NHS and a number of other agencies, who all work together for a three-week period and tackle the communities local issues and concerns.

The project was delivered through Ross-ington Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) from 21st September to 8th October and the good work the project kick started will be maintained through the SNT.

The main part of the project is to consult with the local community before commencing work, to understand what they feel is an issue in their area. From this information, a range of operations and activities are arranged to take place to tackle these issues over the three-week period. The main concerns raised by residents were speeding and antisocial behaviour and a number of measures were put in place to tackle these issues. To tackle speeding, a number of operations were set up with the help of South Yorkshire Road Safety Camera Partnership, to stop speeding motorists in areas residents said drivers were persistently speeding.

Fourteen driver awareness courses and ten fixed penalty notices were issued to drivers during just one of the operations. To also make speeding motorists think about their actions and the possible outcomes, children from year five and six at Pheasant Bank Junior School took part in a competition to design a poster and letter to give to the drivers explaining how speeding made them feel and what could happen if they continued to speed. Five children took part in one of the operations and personally handed their letters and posters to the drivers after they had been stopped and spoken to by police.

To tackle antisocial behaviour, activities were set up three evenings per week through Positive Futures for young people to be involved in as well as drama sessions through Doncaster Arts. Antisocial behaviour dropped dramatically and the sessions saw as many as 50 young people taking part.

There has also been eight volunteers within the community who have put themselves forwards to be "sports leaders". They are receiving free training through Positive Futures so that they can continue the activities for the young people now the project has been completed.

Inspector Wayne Goodwin, Neighbourhood Alliance manager and co-ordinator said, “Neighbourhood Alliance continues to get stronger and provides even better, ongoing results with every area it vis-its. Rossington was the eleventh area the project has been to and really involved the local commu-nity. This is what the project is all about; listening to the local communities and involving them so they are reassured their concerns are being lis-tened to and in partnership, we will do our utmost to tackle them.”

MAYFLOWER ANIMAL SANCTUARY, BAWTRY.

October is here already upon us and the days are getting noticeably shorter. This year is flying by.

We held our annual sponsored dog walk in Bawtry forest on 10th October. It was a beautiful clear day and over 50 dogs and their owners came along to support this event. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone that attended and also to Sir Jack Whittaker for allowing us once again to hold this event in Bawtry forest .

Another thank you must go to Mulberries Beauticians in Retford for donating all towels that are no longer useful to them. With winter and wet and damp days approaching we can definitely find a home for them. They are also supporting us by agreeing to have a donation box in recep-tion for everyone's loose change. So thank you once again.

Good news on Kylie the little staffy that came to us with the distressing flea allergy, she has at least stopped itching and her coat is starting to grow a little. She will be on medication for a while yet but we are happy with her progress so far.

We recently held an event at Epworth show, where we were asked many times what is meant by fostering a dog or a cat. Sometimes we have animals that need that special family, like Doug, who is blind in one eye and has been in a road traffic accident. Or Murphy the Lurcher who at 10 years old is overlooked because of his age. Or an elderly cat that just needs to curl up on a knee. In these cases we would not ask for a donation for the cat or dog. We would carry out a home check to make sure all was well and safe. We would also expect the foster parents to contribute to the food bills but the Sanctuary would be responsible for all vets bills..we will also be there for any support you may need

If you feel that you could give an animal a loving home as a foster parent please call us.

Our charity shop in Manton has now been transformed into a lovely gift shop, so if you are look-ing for that special present please pop in. Or if you have any good quality unwanted gifts that you would like to donate to a worthy charity please let us know we would be very grateful. We are also looking for people to help in the shop so if you have a few hours to spare please call us.

Bonfire night will be here soon and as most people are aware this can be an atrocious time for animals, cats, dogs, rabbits, horses etc. Please think about this in advance and make any provi-sions necessary in order that your pet or anyone else’s pet isn't put under any undue stress.

If you are looking for that special pet please come along Mon-Fri we open 2-4 we close Tues and Sat & Sun we open 1-4

Please call 01302711330 or 07969203206 if you would like any further information about our Sanctuary

Just a few words to keep you updated on how the season is progressing for your local Rugby Team. The visit of early league leaders Wensleydale saw the Hornets slip to their second defeat of the season. Positives to be taken from the loss were that both teams scored 4 tries but the kicking skills of Wensley-dale and a few old heads saw them get the 2 bonus points. However, our per-formance was much improved and compliments from opposition, such as that was the hardest game they will be involved all season, were well received. The Hornets competed and at times were better than the visitors but in the end the score line reflected how the game had progressed with Wensleydale

putting over a penalty from half way line. Robert Bostock was awarded the man of the match but lost to a scrum half when doing the half yard. Following the game, the Wensleydale team joined some of the Hornets in the Styrrup where much fun was had. The Hornets are very much looking forward to the return fixture, where we will be hoping for a win, to better the result of this game which was 24-32.

The following week saw the Hornets on their travels and a trip up the A1 ended with another dis-appointing performance on the road at Wetherby. The Hornets should have been buoyed by the performance against the league leader but seemed to be struggling to get out of the changing rooms and came away on the wrong side of a 43-6 defeat. Damien Robson’s head was still ringing mid week from a high shot which went unseen by the referee, but to his credit he played the rest of the game. The disappointment was clear when speaking to the players that once again, they had underperformed and not shown the commitment and desire to win, that was a hallmark of the side in previous games.

Rossington Hornets hosted the Bradford side Wibsey at the Welfare Ground the following week with players wanting to put things right and show what the hornets can do. The game started well with Steve Bowers going over for his first try in a few years, also spending 10 minutes in the bin. Graham Parkin landed 6 from 7 attempts at goal with the boot. The Rossington scrum dominated and it was disappointing when the Wibsey hooker had to leave the field and scrums went uncon-tested. In the second half, even with Rossington being reduced to 14, even being reduced down to 13 at one point for ten minutes, we were in control for most of the game and didn’t look like let-ting the Bradford team back into the game. Aaron Haxell chipped in with a brace and Tom Wal-ters, Ben Gregory and Graham Parkin all crossing the whitewash. The Half backs are beginning to gel and hopefully this will bode well for the remainder of the season and with some players still to return it can only be good for the team. The disappointment on players faces that didn’t get a game will hopefully only spur them on to make sure the coach cannot leave them out in forth-coming games.

New players are always welcome just email [email protected] or call our fixture secretary on 07540470773 for further information. The Hornets have also been offered the opportunity to enter a team in the merit league for summer Rugby League if we can get enough support both on and off the field we can run a team, if you would be interested in getting involved please contact the club.

Holmescarr Happenings

I know I start to sound like a beating drum about all the good the Holmescarr Community Centre is and all the great things that are happening. But it is and there are! Some big developments are now in the making. I won’t give out the details until later but as they say, “watch this space!”

It is hard to believe that Christmas is already upon us. I do want to highlight the Christmas Fayre that will be happening at the Holmescarr Centre on 4 December from 12noon. There will be games, stalls and crafts to buy of all sorts. Father Christmas will be here for all the children. Rossington Community Baptist Church will have a carol sing-along for you to enjoy and Class 21 cafe’ will be doing what they do best … providing lots of good food to eat and delicious beverages to drink. As the December issue of Rossington Today may not be with everyone before the Christmas Fayre, we wanted to advertise the event in the November issue. The good news is that there is plenty of time for you to call in to the Centre and book a stall for your group or you as an individual. The bad news is that there will be several weeks between the time you read this and the actual event. So put the Holmescarr Community Centre Christmas Fayre on your diary and we will look forward to seeing you here!

Sleigh bells ring from Doncaster!

Santa’s little helpers can enjoy the trip of a lifetime with new festive flights to Lapland from Doncaster’s Robin Hood Airport.

The seasonal flight will be operating from December 3 2010, where families will be able to celebrate Christmas in the Arctic wilderness for a special three night break. The trip includes a private meeting with Santa himself – with pre-sents and souvenirs for every youngster.

In addition a special Lapland day break will also be flying out from the Doncaster Sheffield Airport on December 20, with a range of winter wonderland activities such as a Husky sled journey, snow mobile trip, reindeer sleigh ride and a private meeting with Santa included.

Mike Morton, airport director said: “We are delighted to welcome the Christmas holiday season with such fantastic new winter getaways which will light up and bring smiles to many faces across the region.

“There is no better way to celebrate the wonderful festivities than escaping to such a beautiful, idyllic location - a place that everyone associates with Santa Claus and his merry little helpers. We are sure families will thoroughly enjoy a very special Christmas, with the added convenience of being able to fly from their local airport.”

The break incorporates full board accommodation in a selection of family run hotels. Prices start from £699 for an adult and £579 for a child for the three night trip, and £429 for an adult and £399 for a child for the Santa Lapland day break.

Rossington Wheelers Cycling Club – Summer 2010

Sunday 17th October saw the clubs annual hill climb event take place at its traditional venue from the back of Crookhill Golf Club climbing up into Clifton village. This was the last competitive event in the summer calendar for the club in what has been an active year both on and off the bike for its thirty odd members. For the record Richard Baldwin claimed the ‘King of the moun-tains’ jersey clocking a credible time of 2 min 35 secs with the podium completed by 2009 win-ner Colin Taylor and club secretary Paul Wormald in 2 min 47 and 2 min 51 secs respectively. I say the last competitive event but the clubs golf day competition is still to be played for – though the less than textbook scoring system employed can produce some unpredictable results! All awards are handed out at the clubs annual presentation dinner in early February.

During the summer the club has continued as in previous years to organise a weekly 10 mile time trial event on a fully certified course that forms a loop from either side of Ranskill via Scrooby Top and Blyth. This open event took place on Tuesday evenings and attracted riders from various other local clubs as well as Rossington Wheelers members. Club members have also taken part in a variety of other events over the course of the year to date, including 25, 50 and 100 mile time trials – John Scully holds the best all rounder award for his performances in these, some track events and also elements of road and criterium racing. Other members have embarked on solo and group rides in various ‘sportive’ events for nominated charities.

The clubs regular activities revolve around the Sunday morning ‘club run’. These casual rides leave The Styrrup car park at 9.00am every week and venture out into the countryside, there is always a decent café at the destination though! These rides average around 65 miles in the sum-mer months although there is a ‘century ride’ (100 miles) via Humber Bridge in July. The ride length is reduced to around 45 miles in the depth of winter. Club runs are ridden at the pace of the slowest rider. The club has recently taken delivery of its new kit (in eyecatching red, white and black) and so we should be easy to spot on the local roads this Sunday?

For those unable to make the Sunday run there are organised rides that take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays for differing abilities and also a Wednesday evening social ride of around 25 miles. Through the winter months the club will be organising shorter rides of approx 25 miles on Saturday mornings from The Styrrup at 9.00am also. Details of all club runs and events are pub-lished on our website www.rossingtonwheelers.co.uk and there is also a Facebook group in the clubs name. Ride profiles and route maps etc as well as a members forum are popular areas of the site. If anyone wants any direct advice about the club, its rides and membership the best thing to do is call in at Hudson Cycles on King Avenue (next door to Crumbs) where club chair-man and primary sponsor Les Hudson will gladly field your queries.

In 2010 the club has enjoyed two weekends away, firstly to the Yorkshire Dales in May riding from Masham and secondly to Snowdonia in September riding from Bala. These rides are not for the faint hearted with the climbing involved but are enjoyable weekends – especially if the weather is kind!

One date for your diaries over the winter is Sunday 19th December when the club will host the Rossington Cyclo-X-mas event at The Welfare. This is part of the Lincolnshire Winter Cyclo-Cross League and details of the event and how to ride it will be published on the website or again available through Les at Hudson Cycles.
