ResearchThe work in my education has been heavily influenced by the research and detailed study of precedent projects and the study of regions surrounding my projects.

A Modular Home for the Eastern Tennessee Vernacular - 1,200-1,800 sf - East TN Regional HousingGroup Research - Modular Construction - Flexible Partis

This project started with a month long research project in the field of the Eastern Tennessee Region in the Lower Appalachian Mountains to learn about the building techniques of the region. We utilized these lessons to inform our approach to how we designed the modular system.

Visitor Center for Palladio’s Villa Rotonda - 4,000 sf - Vicenza, ItalyAccessible-oriented Design - Precedent Application

This project was a response to the Maison Bordeaux by Rem Koolhaas (OMA) and was one of the early projects in my educational career. This synthesized the unique circulative methods in Maison Bordeaux into two polished lifts for handicapped patrons and incorporated a museum/gallery into a ramp for these patrons to descend.

University of Tennessee Student Union - 350,000 sf - Knoxville, TNSmall Team Group Project - Preservation of Existing Structure

This project combined a daunting amount of square footage with a complex diversity of program types. With an initial team of three, we came up with an overall strategy for organizing the programmatic zones, and overall parti. After the initial phase, we split into individual groups for the last three weeks to finesse the project ourselves.

“Paint Space” - Installation - UT Art+Architecture Building, Knoxville, TNSmall Team Group Project - Design/Build - Found/Created Materials

This installation was done as a collaborative effort between a group of seven students, including myself, and guest lecturer Jef7rey Hildner. The project was a limited two-part 10 hour charrette in which we had to design the structure, compose a unique piece of original art, and construct the designed structure in the two-day session.
