(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) steps taken by Government tocombat this issue?

Production of coal by CIL

3202. DR. VIKAS MAHATME: Willthe Minister of COAL be pleased to state:

(a) whether it is a fact that Coal IndiaLimited (CIL) has targeted its productionto 660 million tonnes this year, if so, howfar has CIL achieved this target; and

(b) the steps taken by CIL to boost

Illegal mining of coal

(a) whether Government is aware ofillegal coal mining in the coal belt;

(b) the number of cases of illegal miningwhich came to notice of Government andactions taken against them;

(c) the estimated loss due to illegal coalmining during the last five years;

(d) whether Government is aware ofnexus between contractors and bureaucratsin the coal belt which encourages illegalmining and also theft from Governmentowned coal blocks; and

Deaths related to coal mining
