Dr. Ahmet TOLUNAY Istanbul University Forest Department Süleyman Demirel University Forest Department WORKSHOP AIM AND SUBJECT The 12th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 12) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) (Ankara COP12) will be held at 12-23 October 2015 in Ankara. We are going toward a global convention with the other 191 party countries in the UNFCCC framework. The convention that is expected to become definitive this year at Paris and to introduce the mechanism to combat global climate change after 2020, will affect several party countries, including our country and international markets. Thus, what’s the situation in our country’s forestry and land use sectors? How will be the transition to low carbon economy? In which measure Forestry and Agriculture sectors can contribute to climate change? How to go over the bottlenecks? Our aim is to boost works ensuring progress in land use sector from carbon management perspective and to treat the sector with all factors in order to answer these questions. We are waiting to our workshop all stakeholders related to the subject.
