COURSE DESCRIPTIONThis program will emphasize new disease management guidelines in various subspecialties; discuss practical issues for primary care providers; provide updates on current trends in internal medicine; and introduce new therapies and information relative to the treatment of patients. Course format will include lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and case presentation sessions.

TARGET AUDIENCEThis continuing medical education activity is appropriate for healthcare providers including, physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners in the areas of Primary Care, Family Medicine, Family Practice, General Practice and Internal Medicine.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES This activity addresses the Medical Knowledge and Patient Care ACGME/ABMS competencies.

Upon conclusion of this program participants should be able to:

Evaluate and manage: Hyperthyroidism; Polyneuropathy; Hematuria, Sports-related concussion; Common skin disorders; GERD and Barrett’s esophagus; Uncomplicated UTI and recurrent UTI in women; Anxiety and depression; Osteoporosis

Review: Evidence-based preoperative assessment; Treatment options for prostate cancer; Pharmacology of cannabis; Current cholesterol guidelines and recommendations for primary prevention of CV disease; Heart failure treatment strategies; Antimicrobial stewardship; Venous thromboembolism prophylaxis; Rheumatoid arthritis; Colon cancer

Identify: New therapeutic agents for diabetes; Appropriate social media etiquette; Polymyalgia rheumatica; Common orthopedic injuries; Frequently encountered eye diseases in primary care

ACCREDITATIONLahey Clinic Hospital, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

North on Route 1 for 3.3 miles. Right on River Road for ½ mile, bear left on Old County Road. Left on Shore Road for approx. 3 miles.

Directions from the Hartford area:Route 84 East to Route 90 East (Mass Pike) to 290 East to 495 North to 95 North. Follow directions above.

Directions from the Portland area:Maine Turnpike South to Wells Exit 19. Left after toll booth onto Route 109 to Route 1 South to Ogunquit. At center of town, bear left on Shore Road. Go 3 miles.
