Minimize the release of mission-related objects

Avoid the occurrence of break-ups in space

Avoid collisions between sizable space objects

Actively remove intact space objects or debris

Mission Design • to avoid debris creation• limit the orbital lifetime of spacecraft

Satellite and Hardware Design• To prevent the on-orbit break-ups energy

storage should be made passive or quiescent at end of life because

a) Residual propellants b) Pressure vessels and other high pressure devices c) BatteriesAre stored energy sources which may explode!

Future Research

• zero debris creation within the protected zones
