Minimising your headache whenyou need to get your vehicle towedsomewhere is to keep a few simplethings in mind. The first is that you as the clienthave a choice. You don’t have tomake use of the first contractor

arriving at a scene. Keep your insurance details handy, becausethey may require you to make use of a specified contractor. Ifyou use somebody else, you might end up having to pay thetowing fees yourself. Most insurance recognised towingcontractors are affiliated with SATRA or UTASA - bodies thatregulate the towing industry. A good way to know when acontractor is professional is through the following organisations:SATRA and UTASA. Both have call centres and will assist withadvice in an emergency. If you are not sure who to contact callany of the following call centres: UTASA can be contacted 24Hours a day, on 0861 188 272 or SATRA 24Hours a day on 086 107 2872(0861 0 SATRA).

Government, parastatals andprivate sector unite for theenvironment

Greater Tubatse Local Municipality, theLimpopo Provincial Government in the formof the Department of EconomicDevelopment, Environment and Tourism,Eskom, waste management concerns andmining companies by the names ofDwarsrivier Chrome Mine, Mototolo PlatinumMine and Xstrata Lion pooled their efforts onWednesday in Praktiseer to make thecommunity more aware of the environmentthey live in.

Various speakers told the community atBa Tubatse Primary School that because ofthe large concentration of people, a place likePraktiseer is prone to get dirty quickly.Because of the rapid development in thearea, township establishment has not beenconcluded in all areas and services are onlyrendered on a ad hoc basis.

Through partnerships the municipality hasmanaged to put mass containers for rubbishin a large number of areas and theyrequested the public to make use of thesefacilities.

Speakers form the private sector and theprovincial government also stressed that it isimportant not only to make sure theenvironment is kept clean, but that everyonemakes an effort to enhance the environment, such as actively contributing to greening theplanet by planting trees.

A large number of trees was also plantedon Tuesday and councillors and the publicactively took part in an effort to collect someof the rubbish in Praktiseer. Apart fromseeing what is happening at their school, pupils of Ba Tubatse were also treated to areptile exhibition and a cultural performanceby a cultural group in the area.

Ms Sebotsa Choma and Mr Daniël Phetla said: “It is necessary todebate President Jacob Zuma’s leadership position. If this motion ofno confidence goes through and the vote decides that he must bereplaced, he should be replaced by Kgalema Mohlanthe”.

Ms. Jackey Henriques and Mr Keith Henriques said: “The DA and theother opposition parties are wasting their time because the debate willonly stay in the house. They should all leave and there should comenew people. They should decide that ‘this house will serve the Lord!’Then they will find that there is so much money that previously went intocorruption, that they can now spend on orphans and the elderly.Yes, there is a problem with the leadership when you look at the state ofthe hospitals etc. Children are also affected through their education, orthe lack of it. They should focus on bringing the country together andhelping the children”.

Me.

Ms Gloria Komane said: “They must talk and voteabout this as soon as possible. They must discussit then maybe after that things will go well”.

Mr Calvin Matjeke, Mr Charles Ramaube and Mr Lennox Ngwatle said: “We want them todiscuss this motion of no confidence. It is good that there is no confidence in the president. We feel Zuma has done nothing and that he should learn from Nelson Mandela. UnderZuma’s leadership the nation corrupted”.

Ms Mavis Tshehla, Ms Tina Makgabo and Ms Welma Maruma said: “The opposition partiesmust just make sure how the people they represent feel about it. We think it will be good todiscuss it. So far Zuma did not do very well, so maybe someone else can do better”.

Mr Isaac Mohlala said: “They are justwasting their own time with this motion. Theideal would be if we could get a presidentfrom another party”.

Mr Thabo Mmole said: “Zuma must stay on.They must not do this motion of noconfidence. The things that are wrong - likecorruption - is not Zuma’s fault”.

Mr Elia Mahlangu said: “There is nothingwrong with the leadership of President JacobZuma. I am proud of him. The DA must nottry to get another president in his place”.

Left: Mr James Rato Maile said: “I don’t havea problem with President Jacob Zuma. There is no need to debate his leadership ortry to replace him”.

Mnr. Manny Antunes sê: “Dis ‘n mors vantyd. Hul timing is uit. Hulle moes gewag hetdat die ANC se interne verkiesing verbykom. As Jacob Zuma dan weer die leier is kanhulle mos die mosie ingedien het”.

To debate or not?The DA parliamentary leader, LindiweMazibuko has gone to court to try and get adebate and vote on a motion of no confidencein President Jacob Zuma scheduled in theNational Assembly. The DA is backed by sevenother opposition parties in this bid to debatethe leadership of the President. Their groundsfor the motion were: “Under his leadership thejustice system has been politicised andweakened; corruption has spiralled out ofcontrol; unemployment continues to increase, the economy is weakening, and the right toaccess to quality education has been violated”.The constitution provides for a motion of noconfidence to be brought against a presidentof the country. If this motion is supported bythe majority of the members of the NationalAssembly - 50% + 1, the president must resignand his cabinet and deputy ministers with him.The opposition parties rejected a proposal byANC Chief Whip Mathole Motshekga to debatethe motion of no confidence in President JacobZuma in February 2013.By the time of going to press the court rulingwas not yet available. We asked readers what they think about thisissue.
