CIDC – Activities Executive Development Programs for PPPs in Roads, Highways

Six Basic Courses between April, 2015 & August, 2015 (Based on UN recommended

curriculum)

Conducted by UNECEP, an organization formed jointly by United Nations Economic Commission for

Europe & CIDC

Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) was jointly established by several Union Ministries, PSUs and the construction industry, to help promote efficient methods, technology, management and skill development in order to develop and implement world class projects within least time and at least cost. You are aware of the plans of Government of India for the infrastructure sector of India. The plans incorporate infusion of substantial private-sector contributions, to enable which PPP projects assume vital significance and importance. UN has targeted the development of specific systems and procedures to be followed by member countries in such projects. UNECEP is a body formed jointly by United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), CIDC and leading

organisations involved in PPPs in India. UNECEP, jointly with CIDC is proposing to hold a series of Training Programs for middle

level executives of all stakeholder organisations involved in PPPs. The courses have been designed on the guidelines provided by the UN.

1. Introduction to Public-Private Partnerships - 4th April, 2015 (11 AM to 5 PM) 2. Good governance in Public-Private Partnerships - 2nd May, 2015 (11 AM to 5 PM) 3. Risks in Public-Private Partnerships - 16th May,2015 (11 AM to 5 PM) 4. Running an Effective PPP Procurement - What are the Key stages in PPP Procurement?

5. An Overview of Issue related to Public-Private Partnerships and Sustainable Development - How can PPPs deliver sustainability?

6. A Guide to the preparation of an outline Business case - 29th August, 2015 (11 AM to 5 PM)

CIDC – Activities “UNCITRAL INDIA WORKSHOP” held on 16th February 2015 at Scope Complex Lodhi

Road. New Delhi:

Shri D. Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister of Law & Justice inaugurated the 2015 UNCITRAL workshop organized by Construction Industry Arbitration Council and Construction Industry Development Council in the scope complex, New Delhi today. Shri P.K Malhotra, Secretary Law & Justice, Government of India, Mr. Joao Riberio, UNCITRAL, Dr. Uddesh Kohli Chairman, Construction Industry Arbitration Council, Dr. B. D Mundhra, Chairman UNECEP and several other Indian as well as the overseas experts addressed a galaxy of legal as well as engineering experts. Speaking on this occasion, Shri Gowda highlighted the need of adopting methods and processes to resolve the business disputes to insure a robust and conducive work environment to meet the requirements of building the physical infrastructure. It is noteworthy to mention that UNCITRAL has organized this important event after 50 years for the first time in India and has also joined hands with CIDC to establish a center of excellence for Highway Construction, under PPP mode. While inviting Construction Industry Arbitration Council to work with the Ministry, Shri Gowda emphasized the need of resorting to Institutional Arbitration in place of the Ad-hoc mode of arbitration, a quick post award settlement of the disputed issues and also extensively use of conciliation and mediation as an effective tool of dispute resolution. He has requested that Ministry of Law and Justice should develop a panel of bodies providing institutional arbitration and advise Govt. departments and public enterprises to include institutional arbitration clause in their contracts. Shri Gowda also spoke about resorting to on-line-dispute resolution, in view of the smart cities being planned. Special emphasis was given by him on training a strong cadre of specialists as Arbitrators as well as mediation and conciliation experts. Shri Gowda also distributed the certificates of competence to various experts empanelled by CIAC as Institutional Arbitration Specialists. In view of over 55 lakh crores investment going in building the physical infrastructure in the nation, this meet was both timely and helpful in meeting the national objectives.

Sh. Mithlesh Tripathi visited CIDC, Gorakhpur Centre:

Sh. Mithlesh Tripathi, Sr Engineer, VNC visited CIDC, Gorakhpur Centre on 7 Feb, 2015. Sh. P.K. Mishra, Additional Director was present during the visit. Sh. Mithlesh Tripathi interacted with the trainees and shared the real life challenges of construction workers.

CIDC – Activities Swachhta Abhiyan at Parsa, Chhapra:

CIDC is promoting the ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’ and making efforts for clean schools, clean surroundings, pure drinking water facilities, proper toilets, safe and clean food and personal hygiene. CIDC is also doing motivational and awareness programs on ‘Swachhata Mission’.

For cleanliness and awareness, CIDC, Parsa, Chhapra organized programs on 11 Feb, 2015 at Prabhunath Mahavidhyalaya and Sub Divisional Block Office, Parsa, Saran.

Placement Meet at Gorakhpur Centre:

A Placement Meet organized at Gorakhpur centre on 14th Feb. 2015. Vijaya Nirmana Company Pvt. Ltd. was present to select the trainees for their organizations. 80 trainees were present in the placement meet. Col C.N. Rao, Asst. General Manager (Training & Development) interviewed the trainees and selected.

Interaction and Counselling Programme at Ghazipur center:

An interaction and counselling program was organized at Gazipur center on 21st Feb 2015 with trainees. Sh. P.K. Mishra, Additional Director, CIDC and Dr. Sudha Tiwari, Principal, Gopi Nath Post Graduate College, Gazipur were in the program. Sh. P.K. Mishra interacted with the trainees and motivated them to take training seriously and enthusiastically. Dr. Sudha Tiwari gave a lecture on attitude and behavior.

Visit of Dr Shankar Singh, DGM, PFC:

Dr Shankar Singh, Deputy General Manager, Power Finance Corporation Ltd visited Sidhauli Centre on 28th Feb 2015. Dr. Singh observed the facilities available at the Centre and understood the methodology of training.

Dr. Singh interacted with trainees and staff. He delivered a very inspiring lecture and motivated the trainees to take training very sincerely. He visited the sites where trainees are taking hands on training. Dr Suchita Kumar, Director (H) and Sh. P K Mishra, Addl. Director accompanied Dr. Shankar Singh during his visit.

Visit of APEEJAY STYA UNIVERSITY on 24th February, 2015 at Vishwakarma Pratham (VKP) Faridabad:

A delegation of 18 B.Tech students from APEEJAY STYA UNIVERSITY Sohna Road Gurgaon, along with their teachers Mr. Ashwini Kr. Gupta H.O.D, Mechanical Engineering, Dr. S.C. Sharma H.O.D. Civil Engineering and Prof. (Dr.) Ravi Shankar Gauti visited CIDC Vishwakarma Pratham Faridabad. They visited in connection with the practical hands-on training of the young engineers passing about to acquire their engineering degree, so they may be aware of the practical, working knowledge and make themselves competent engineers, who may be able to properly guide the manpower working at their sites.

The team of CIDC consisting of Dr. Shuchita Kumar (Hon.) Director Projects, Prof. (Er.) B.R. Chauhan, Shr. Praveen Tiwari Dy. General Manager and other officials and trainers, interacted with the faculty and students of Apeejay Stya University and detailed the hands-on training methodology for young engineers during their internship, as they have theoretical knowledge, but lack in practical exposures.

The B.Tech students were briefed about the importance to acquire practical skills to be successful in the Construction Industry and which would improve their role towards nation building. The faculty and the students expressed their satisfaction and said that they would discuss it with their guardians, to join the Internship Program with CIDC in their quest for a bright future after passing out from APEEJAY STYA UNIVERSITY.

CIDC – Activities Malkapuram, Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh :

Ongoing Projects:

VIshwabharati Academy's, College of Engineering, Ahmednagar, CIDC Partner Institute had started Construction Quantity Surveying & Estimation Program in association with local Engineering Colleges.

21 students are enrolled in the training program and after the completion of the program they will be tested & certified by CIDC.

Vishwakarma Tritiya (VKT) Dhaulana Site:

1. Under TNSDM training program, 3152 candidates have been trained and another 84 candidates are under training.

2. Under CIDC-OIL Program, 32 candidates (01 in the trade of General Works Supervisors, 06 candidates in the trade of Land Surveyor, 09 candidates in the trade of Plumber and 16 candidates in the trade of Electrician) are getting training at CIDC Ghaziabad training Centre.

3. Under CIDC-PFC Phase-III program 685 numbers are getting training at different training centers of CIDC. The details are as under:-
