Principal’s Report Welcome to the halfway point of Term 1. Our school year has been positive and all students are working hard in their classrooms and then having lots of fun out in the playground. Our P&C met last Thursday in person for the first time since March 2020 and it was lovely to catch up. Inverell Public School is fortunate to have a vibrant, enthusiastic parent group who assist in many aspects of school life. They oversee the canteen operations, organise mothers day and fathers day stalls, attend working bees, apply for government grants to support us, raffles, barbecues and most recently the extension of our vegetable garden and sub-pods. I would like to extend an invitation to all parents to come to the next meeting on 18 March at 6.30pm. School venue to be advised depending on numbers. We have been able to have a shortened version of our whole school assembly and the children were amazing. They sat quietly, listened well and enjoyed just being together. There are new forms for signing in and out of our school grounds. It is a two part process with the QR code as step 1, completion of the sign in sheet is step 2. If you are unable to access the QR code please ensure you complete the paper register. This process is required by the NSW Department of Education and is updated regularly. We currently have 540 students enrolled across mainstream and support classes. This has resulted in a new demountable classroom being installed near the office. Mrs Beattie and her class have been very flexible whilst the last few modifications are completed. Fingers crossed the temporary fencing will be gone within the next two weeks. Feedback from our families and community has been positive in regards to the meet and greet at each entrance. Some thoughtful suggestions have been raised in regarding communications with our families. We are currently planning the best option for information evenings following Covid 19 protocols and look forward to sharing this information with you. Please rest assured that your children are completing Literacy, Numeracy, Science and Technology, History and Geography, Physical Development and exercise, Art, Music and Drama activities within their classrooms. I know when some parents ask their children “What have you done today?”, “Who did you play with?” receive a “nothing” and “no one” answer while some students give an in depth recount of their day. All students are bringing their personal best every day and striving to achieve. Mrs Ally Campbell Principal Progress reports for your doctor If your doctor requests a report from the school for your next paediatrician appointment, please collect a request form from the office. These requests are dealt with by the Learning and Support Team and not the classroom teacher. Allow two weeks for the requests to be completed.
