Principal’s Report I would like to wish Mrs Anderson all the best whilst she waits on the birth of baby number 2 and welcome Mrs Hubner back to full time teaching on 5/6AH. I am very concerned about the use of social media in our student’s age group. I ask parents to please monitor and be vigilant in their child’s use of social media. Most platforms require a person to be over 13 years of age to use. The eSafety Commissioner is aware of reports about a video circulating on social media platforms. ESafety has contacted social media companies about the reports and will continue working with them to monitor the situation. It would be advisable for parents and carers to keep their children off all social media for the next couple of days. Please contact IPS if you have any concerns regarding your child's wellbeing. Additionally, the following services are available: * Kids Helpline. 1800 55 1800. Phone support is there all day, every day. Online support is open from 8am-midnight every day (AEST). * eHeadspace. 1800 650 890. Open 9am-1am daily (AEST). * Lifeline. 13 11 14. Phone support all day, every day. Online support 7pm-4am daily (AEST). Warm Regards Mrs Ally Campbell Principal Tell Them From Me student survey: Information and consent form for parents and carers This term, your school is taking part in the Tell Them From Me student survey. The survey will provide us with valuable feedback on what our students think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help them improve. The survey is completed on-line and is run by an independent research company, The Learning Bar, which specialises in school-based surveys. Staff in schools will not be able to identify individual students from their responses. To ensure confidentiality, participating students will receive a unique username and password. Where fewer than five students respond to a question, the results will be suppressed. The survey typically takes 30 minutes or less to complete and will be administered by the school during normal school hours. Once the surveys are completed by students, reports are prepared and in most cases are available to schools within three business days. This survey will help our school better understand how to improve student wellbeing and engagement. It will help the school identify what works to improve student outcomes. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary. Your child will not take part if either you or your child do not wish. If, during the survey, your child is uncomfortable, he/she can choose to stop the survey at any time. The majority of questions in the survey can be skipped. If you do not want your child to take part in the survey, please complete the form sent home on Monday and return it by Friday 11 September. More information about the survey and the research is available in English on the Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation website: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents NEWSLETTER Thursday 10 September 2020 Week 8 Term 3 September ——–————————— Friday 11 101 days of Kinder Virtual debating v RHPS Tell Them from Me Survey due Book Club due Friday 18 Green and Purple Fundraiser Day Monday 21 UNE Science Discovery Visit Friday 25 Pyjama Day Last day Term 3 Summer Uniform Summer Sport Uniform The weather is starting to warm up!
