Upper levels students from the BNC presented Nine Posters of Successful Black People: Michael Jordan, Rosa Park, Oprah, Martin Luther King, Jr, Malcom X, Carter C Washington, Outsanding Athletes, James Weldon Johnson and Booker T.. Washington. The visitors, teachers and students listened to the different presentations, took notes and made a lot of questions.

On February 10th, 2011, American Corner Coordina-tor and the Binational Center coordinated a Poster Session about the Black History Month celebration. On February 24th, 2011 25 students from Ameri-
can College University participated at the Movie
“I have a dream….Martin Luther King”. Ameri-
can Corner Coordinated visited the University
very early explaining at the students about Black
History Month and gave information about the
different services available at the American Cor-
ner specially the new Virtual Library. The
teacher and students had questions and answers
about the movie for the abstract that students
have to do.
The students received bookmarks and pencils as
a souvenir.
On February 24th, 2011 Gloria Almeyda, Analisa Algan-
dona and Carmen Cecilia de Narvaez from Georgetown
University visited American Corner. This first visits
had as objective to know about the different services
available at the American Corner and the Central Bank
Library. American Corner Coordinator explained about
the New Virtual Library, the different services available
and the cultural activity organized during every month.
In June 15th and 20th, teachers and 22 students will visit-
ing the library again and we will do the activity English
Tutoring with the students from Georgetown Univer-
sity.

On Feb. 26th. American Corner and the Bina-tional Center organized an activity with the chil-dren program. The children researched and prepared some presentations about the dif-ferent ex-presidents of the US (George Washing-ton, Abraham Lincoln, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, James Madison and the actual president Barack Obama). Teachers and students had the opportunity to exchange information with the rest of the students.
On February 18th, 2011 two university students
visited American Corner. They wanted to know
about the Virtual Library. American Corner co-
ordinator offer training to database “Fuente Aca-
demica”. This database is in Spanish. Every day
the students visit the library make use of data
base and do the homework.
This is a big opportunity for the people to visits
American Corner
On Feb. 26, teachers from BNC Harold Moses and Yariela
Cantarero presented about the origin, significance, theme
and leaders of Black History as well as the important events
occurred during the civil wars and the influence and partici-
pation from the African-American people. level 1, 10 and
12 to attend this presentation which lasted 1 hour. pesented
relevant information and we encouraged students to give
opinion or ask any question during our presentation. Every-
thing was successful and at the end we had an activity of a
song where the students had to fill it out and sing along.
They enjoyed doing this and they sang 2 more times.
