VOLUME 22, NUMBER 35 18-1st Avenue North, Yorkton, SK S3N 1J4 Saturday, June 14, 2014
The Kelvington/Rose Valley RCMP and Crime Stoppers are seeking assistance from the public in fi nding a missing child that was reported missing from Rose Valley, Saskatch-ewan. Ethan Kishay-inew, 12 years old, was last seen in Rose Valley on Sunday, June 8. He has not returned home. It is believed that he may be hitchhiking to Saskatoon but his des-
tination is not known. He has no identifi ca-tion with him. He is de-scribed as fi rst nations, 5’6” tall, 130lbs, slim build, with brown eyes and now has very short black hair (army style).
Theft
Yorkton Rural RCMP are asking the pub-lic for their assistance for the following two break, enter and thefts: During the evening of June 1, 2014 and the early morning hours of June 2, 2014, an unoc-cupied residence in the RM of Wallace and an outbuilding on another property also in the RM of Wallace northeast of Yorkton, were broken into and several items were stolen. Items sto-len included a chain-saw, alcoholic bever-ages, and gas. The police want to remind property own-ers with unoccupied farm residences and/or
outbuildings to ensure they are secure in an ef-fort to reduce property theft. If you have informa-tion about these or any other crimes, please contact the Yorkton Rural RCMP or your local police service. If you wish to remain anonymous Saskatche-wan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, *8477 on Sask-Tel Mobility, text TIP206 plus your message to CRIMES (274637) or submit a tip online at www.sask-crimestoppers.com If your information leads to an arrest or a case being cleared, you may be eligible for a cash re-ward of up to $2,000.
Driving under the infl uence
On December 15, 2013, an off-duty member of the Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP De-tachment received a complaint, at his home,
from a server at a li-censed establishment in Fort Qu’Appelle. The server indicated there was an impaired adult male who she felt should not be driv-ing. The adult male is a serving member from the Fort Qu’Appelle De-tachment who was off-duty at the time of the incident. As a result of this complaint, the “F” Division General Inves-tigation Section within the Major Crime Branch of the RCMP in Sas-katchewan launched a criminal investigation. As a result of the in-vestigation, Alphonse Noey (DOC: 1967-11-05), of Fort Qu’Appelle, has been charged with one count of operating a motor vehicle while his ability to operate the vehicle was impaired by alcohol, section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. Alphonse Noey was served on May 30, 2014, and will make his fi rst court appear-
ance on June 12, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in Fort Qu’Appelle. In addition to the criminal charges, Al-phonse Noey is the sub-ject of a code of conduct investigation into the allegations. Cst. Noey has been on adminis-trative leave since May 5, 2014. Due to the nature of the incident and the fact that it involved an RCMP member, we have taken steps to re-view the response to the initial complaint. The RCMP takes these types of situations very seriously which is why the reviews have been initiated. As with all investiga-tions, the RCMP will not be releasing the names of the members who are the subject of the internal review. If it is determined these employees contravened the Code of Conduct and informal disciplin-ary action is suffi cient,
this action is considered Personal Information as defi ned in Section 3 of the Privacy Act. If it is determined that formal discipline is warranted then a for-mal disciplinary hear-ing is initiated. The results of these hearings are open to the public and are available upon request (not through a formal Access to Information and Privacy request). If there are additional statutory charges, the name of the member will be released through a media release.

The fi rst project will perform an economic, social and environmental assessment of the Canadian beef indus-try. The study will help industry recognize and com-municate areas of profi ciency, set targets and outline benefi cial management practices for areas of improve-ment, and help shape future research and policy. This project will be managed by the Canadian Cattleman’s Association (CCA). The second project, managed by the Canadian Beef Breeds Council (CBBC), will focus on development of easy-to-use genomic selection tools for breed improve-ment. The project will work with individual breed asso-ciations to educate producers on using genomic tools to increase effi ciencies in feed and production, minimize health costs, and increase carcass value. The long term goal of this project is to improve the understanding of genomics and increase the uptake by the Canadian beef industry. “This assessment will enable the measurement of sustainability indicators and is a fundamental step in ensuring consumers have continued confi dence in Ca-nadian beef and in Canada as a global leader in sus-tainable beef production,” CCA President Dave Solver-son adds. “The CBBC is excited to work with beef producers on the practical application of new scientifi c based in-novations,” CBBC Executive Director Michael Latimer says. “Applying leading edge technology will allow the
Canadian beef industry to remain both profi table and competitive globally. The generous support from Agri-culture and Agri-Food Canada, Saskatchewan Agricul-ture, and Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency Ltd. are essential to the success of this initiative.” “I am proud to see the governments and industry investing in the livestock sector,” Saskatchewan Stock Growers President Harold Martens comment. “Re-search funding creates new tools necessary for Sas-katchewan producers to grow the industry.” Funding for ADF projects is provided under Growing Forward 2, a federal-provincial initiative. Ed, my neighbor next door, has been in an irri-table mood lately. He has been frustrated about the progress of his farming. When Ed starts having two cigarettes at his smoke breaks and drinks more coffee every day, Ruby, Ed’s wife knows he is getting steamed up about everything and nothing. Ruby said the other day that if Ed doesn’t calm down he will soon be biting the dog. Ed is already saying that he is losing hope for this year’s growing season. Don’t tell Ed that the growing season could soon change for the better. He won’t listen. I understand grumpi-ness and crankiness, as I have had lots of firsthand experience with them both. Ed and I are often kettles who steam and boil over. You can never be too careful around us as we can scald with our irritability. Ed told me last week that he had a right to gripe. “If others had to deal with all my aggravations, they would be selling the farm and working at Walmart,” he said. It seems the world is divided between the folks who keep their grumpi-ness hidden, and those who let it get away from them. Is it possible that the folks who are the crankiest are the ones that have lost hope for both today and tomorrow? Hope is an optimistic atti-tude of mind or the expec-tation of a positive out-come. It might be safe to say Ed is feeling hopeless because his desire for cer-tain things to happen at his farm haven’t come to pass yet this season. Hope may dry up within us when our desires, aspira-tions and ambitions don’t materialize before us. Remaining hopeful and optimistic today and tomorrow no matter what our circumstances can be a challenge for everyone. Where does hope come from? Sometimes it does come from a change in our circumstances, such as, the end of a stressful
health situation, because of the success of different medicine or medical pro-cedure. The paying off of a long term debt can result in feelings of more hopefulness about one’s finances. Yet, hope that comes with our circum-stances can disappear like a shadow. That is why many have put their hope in God. When the Bible speaks of putting hope in the Lord, it is to be found
in God’s word and His unfailing love. Many in the New Testament put their hope in Jesus Christ because of the reports of his many healings of the sick. Once, a woman put her trust in Jesus because she suffered from bleed-ing for twelve years. No one could heal her, so when many people were crowded around Jesus, she went up behind him in the crowd, and touched
the edge of his cloak. She was instantly healed. That had been her hope that if she could just touch his clothes she would be healed. Jesus proved that there
is a complete and certain hope of life after death through his resurrection from the dead. This truth springs eternal in the hearts of Christians. Jesus said “I am the res-
urrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” It’s our greatest hope.

There’s something about the summer that leaves us craving a seaside vacation, but if a trip to the East Coast isn’t part of your summer plans, we have your seafood crav-ings covered.
Take a look at these tips from Clearwater Seafoods’ executive chef, Stefan Czapalay, showing us how to select, prepare and enjoy the best seafood this sum-mer:
• When grilling seafood, look for thick pieces of meaty fish and stay away from light, flaky fish.
• Frozen seafood can actually be of higher qual-ity when its frozen-at-sea, meaning that the product is frozen onboard the vessel within minutes of catch. This process locks in fla-vour, freshness and pre-serves the texture.
• When it’s too hot to cook, the popular Clearwater Scallops & Sauce provide a tasty meal. Simply heat up in the microwave according to instructions and toss with pasta or rice and serve.
• When purchasing whole fish examine the eyes, cloudy eyes are a good indication that the fish is past due.
• Fish typically goes bad after two days in the refrigerator. If you don’t plan on cooking it within two days, try purchasing fish that’s been frozen-at-sea.
Try this easy and deli-cious East Coast scallops recipe:
es each)Vegetable oilButterWhite WinePreparation:Place Clearwater
Scallops & Sauce in a tri-ple wrapped piece of foil along with a few sliced mushrooms, chopped green onions, a few diced pep-
pers and a ½ cup of grated aged cheddar or Jarlsberg cheese.
Place foil bundle to the side of the grill not over a direct flame about 1 min-ute before starting the fish.
Season halibut fillets (or other fish) with salt and pepper, and lightly oil with vegetable oil.
Generously butter a tri-ple folded piece of foil and place fish in center.
Sprinkle with white wine and wrap securely.
Place foil pouch over
the heat and close lid on grill.
When fish is cooked, open and drizzle juices into a bowl and mix with Scallops & Sauce.
Serve with Scallops & Sauce as a topper (which takes about 9 minutes on high heat.)
Chefs Note: You will know when the fish is cooked as the foil will have a steady stream of steam escaping.
