Recommendations

• Improve quality of air, land, and water.• Design and promote affordable, accessible, safe, and

healthy housing.• Engage and empower people and communities to

plan and implement prevention policies and programs.

• Ensure a strategic focus on communities at greatest risk.

• Support research to identify effective strategies to eliminate health disparities.

• Enhance capacity of state, tribal, local, and territorial governments to create healthy, livable and sustainable communities

• Support standards to reduce pollution and environmental exposure to protect communities from environmental and health hazards.

• Support healthy housing while addressing unsafe housing conditions and health-related hazards

• Identify and address barriers to the dissemination and use of reliable health information.

• Support policies to reduce exposure to environmental and occupational hazards

• Conduct comprehensive community health needs assessments and develop state and community health improvement plans

• Ensure that homes and workplaces are healthy, including eliminating safety hazards, ensuring that buildings are free of water intrusion, indoor environmental pollutants, and pests.

• Partner with local agencies & stakeholders to conduct comprehensive community health needs assessments & develop community health improvement plans.

• Conduct home assessments and modifications (e.g., installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, testing for lead, checking for mold and radon).
