My project introduces the theme of the film but develops conventions of as in most opening sequences you are introduced to the narrative of the story, whereas in my project, you are meant to be left with a sense of enigma. I got my idea of Se7en to use a montage of a man doing creepy things, and then I added my own little twist to make the audience want and need more. Question 2:

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My production Unthinkable
I got the idea of having a boy tortured by the film Unthinkable (2010). The facial
expressions are similar as they are both scared, in Unthinkable, Michael Sheen is
tortured because he is a terrorist, whereas Thomas Brown in my production is about to
be tortured due to bad luck, and by a psychopath. The props we used was rope, this is anold way of tying someone up, whereas in Unthinkable they use different things as they
are the police
I based my sequence on se7en montage. Just like in se7en the opening doesnt give
the representation of an average killer. The only way the audience can identify with the
killer is through his tools, as the shots I used doesnt give an insight of him, and
I have learnt how to use different technologies during the process of conducting my
production. I have learnt to use an SLR camera as a film camera; I used this as it was HD
rather than standard definition. It was a little harder to use as you have to manu al focus. To edit the production I first used Final Cut Pro, this was to put my clips in a certain
order. To make my text I used Adobe After Effects, this is because it has a lot more
effects than Final Cut, therefore I thought it would be better to use it to make my
Abandoned Hope title.
In Final Cut I had get rid of the audio of every clip, then I replaced it with the song I used.
Once I put all my clips together to form a product, I colour corrected the whole piece, I
turned blacks up and whites down. Also adding a stylized effect. I wanted to disorie ntate
the audience with the weird colour. I used dissolve transitions to make all the clips flow.
In After effects I found a nice, creepy gothic background, and downloaded a font called
Nyctophobia from http://www.dafont.com/nyctophobia.font . I then duplicated the text
of ABANDONED HOPE and brought one forward. I then added a drop shadow and made
it 3D. After, I added a camera to make It zoom in, then drift to the right.
During this whole production process I have become better with using Final Cut Pro,
and After Effect. I am also confident with my editing skills and my cinematography skills.
Question 7
The simplest way to answer this is to use a number of screen grabs from both the
preliminary and main task to draw comparisons between the two to show how your
production skills have improved during the process. You should try to cover:
My filming skills as well as my editing skills have improved drastically!
