Target Audience & Needs The target audience for this song would be teenagers and young adults who enjoy hard rock/ shock rock music and because of the graphic or distressing things in the video it wouldn’t be appropriate for a young audience. The needs of the audience are met because of the performances of the lead singer , doing what his fans expect him to do because of his controversial beliefs. Lyrics (Meaning Implied?) Some of the lyrics in this song such as ‘ I want to use you and abuse you’ may give off the meaning of someone having bad dreams of what might of happened to them in the past , and doesn’t really imply what the title of the song might, mean ‘Sweet Dreams’, this could be why the video features scary footage almost like a horror film. Tempo The tempo of the song starts off really slow and calm , but then kicks in to be a darker and scarier more aggressive sounding tempo, which is common in hard rock/ shock rock genre. Which goes with the way each member off the band looks in an aggressive angry way. Genre The genre of this song would be classed as hard rock/ shock rock, because of some of the controversial lyrics in this bands songs , the genre of the video is a concept/ narrative video because at the beginning of the video it doesn’t really make sence of what might be going on. Camera Technique The music video starts off with a close up of the lead singers face as he is sat in the fire place, a long shot is then used when someone who appears to be in a wedding dress starts walking down some steps in slow motion, after that shots cuts back to a medium shot of the band standing infront of the camera surrounded by candles while the singer is singing towards the camera. The shot then changes from an aerial shot which shoots over the top of the singer then pans down in front of him turning into a medium shot as

Editing The editing used in the video are continuous cuts, the shots in the video that are continuous shots between the lead singer and the other members of the band performing in the ground floor of the house, then another cut is used and the lead singer is then shown in a subway pulling a pig along, and he has been painted green, then the shots jump to the other end of the subway where a figure is seen on stilts, then back to the lead singer in the fireplace and straight back to the pig, this is a jump cut because the piece of footage of the lead singer on the pig gets cut , a different shot then back to the pig. Another jump cut is used when the singer is seen walking through the street with a dress on then different shots of him in various places in the dress and then back to that shot.

Use of Digital Effects There is a variety of digital effects used in this video such as colour correction, a glow effect, an effect which makes the camera look like a fish bowl effect, and a wavy effect , distortion etc.The colour correction has been used differently throughout the video , mostly dark cold looking colours such as dark blues, greyr and blacks are used to give this horror/ scary, earie feeling to the video, but some bright colours are used in the different parts of the video, such as red and green when there is a close up of the lead singer near the end of the video. A fish bowl and wavy effect is used at the start of the video when the close up of the singer in the fireplace appears on screen, then when the figure is walking slowly down the stair case. A couple of shots after this a distortion effect is used when the long shot of the band standing in front of the camera with the candles around them, the lead singers mouth slowly opens wider and the other members faces can’t be seen clearly. A glow effect is used when the figure in the wedding dress is stood in the middle of the other room after one of the
