Linguistic MI Nugget

Did You Know?... Scientists tell us that people who use sign language—including the deaf and hearing impaired—are mostly using the Word Smart areas of the brain to communicate?

Prodigies or children who are very talented very young are also pretty common in music. Award-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma played his first public concert at the age of 6!

Logic MI Nugget

Did You Know?... You have a 1 in 383 chance as a working adult of becoming a millionaire in any given year when you grow up. (Better odds than winning the lottery).

Logic MI Nugget #2!

Did You Know?... The sky is blue because of sunlight. Sunlight is made up of a lot of different colors of light mixed together even though sunlight usually just looks white. Some colors of light move through air, dust, and gases (the earth’s atmosphere) better than others. Blue light tends to get shoved around a lot by air and dust. So, the blue sky you see when you look up is blue light that has been shoved out of the “white” sunlight by all of the air in our atmosphere.

Picture Smart (Spatial Intelligence)

You Prefer and enjoy: -  Remember faces better than names -  Easily see objects in your mind -  Like taking things apart and putting them back together (Legos) -  Work with art materials like paper, paint, and markers -  Enjoy watching movies, videos, and play lots of video games -  Notice the style of clothing, hairstyles, cars, bikes, or other

everyday things -  Prefer to look at maps for direction -  Enjoy looking at photos and pictures -  Like to draw or doodle a lot -  Learn by watching - Visual puzzles and mazes

Mainly about learning and thinking in pictures. Love to look at the world and see all the interesting things in it. Show others your vision through art, design, photography, architecture or invention.

Did You Know? Grandma Moses, a famous American folk art painter, started painting in her 70s –when her arthritis got too bad for needlework!

Kinesthetic MI Nugget

Did You Know?... A glass blower uses each part of her body to create a piece of blown glass –even a small one. She uses her arms and hands to mold the glass and move it while it melts. She uses her mouth and lungs to blow air carefully into the hot glass. She uses her shoulders and back to twirl the pipe the glass is formed on to expand the glass form.

Nature MI Nugget

Did You Know?... The youngest person to climb to the top of Mount Everest (the highest mountain in the world) is a Nepalese boy named Temba Tsheri. He reached the summit (the top of the mountain) on May 22, 2001 when he was just 15 years old!

Existentialism MI Nugget

Did you know?... Nostradamus studied astrology and various "occult" sciences and used those to predict the future. For a prediction around the time of Sept. 11, 2001, he predicted:

Earthshaking fire from the center of the Earth Will cause tremors around the New City. Two great rocks will war for a long time, Then Arethusa will redden a new river.

Key points to remember … •  Each person possesses all nine intelligences

•  There are many different ways of being smart in each intelligence

•  The different intelligences work together in almost everything you do.

•  Most people can grow and develop each

intelligence level •  You may know what you’re best at, but that

doesn’t mean you’re limited to one kind of intelligence.
