Under the auspices of a vibrant new committee the Wallacia Progress Association is alive and well making a difference in the Wallacia community
The aim of the Progress Associa-tion is to improve the environment in which we live especially for the chil-dren of the community and to make the village a safe and enjoyable place to live with a strong sense of community
Recent achievements include suc-cessfully lobbying the Wollondilly Shire Council to ensure the rigorous investi-gation of the impacts of a proposed de-velopment on the banks of the Nepean River at Wallacia greening the village through tree plantings supported by Penrith City Council and successfully lobbying Penrith City Council to provide footpaths along Greendale Road and upgrading the childrenrsquos play equip-ment at Downes Park
The Progress Association also has responsibility for the community hall on the corner of Greendale Road and Roma Avenue Following a series of upgrades and improvements the hall is ready for use for community activi-
ties and private functions The soon-to-be completed fencing at the hall will provide a child friendly space ideal for childrenrsquos birthday parties Christening or naming day celebrations etc
President of the Wallacia Progress Association Ellena Jee-MacLennan (4773 8899) and Secretary Jacque-line Cooke (cookies2jaylivecomau ) invite you to join the Progress As-sociation at one of its monthly meet-ings held at the hall at 730pm on the fourth Tuesday of the month Ellena Jacqui and the existing members of the Progress Association would love to hear your ideas to make our great village even better
Some of the issues on the Associa-tionrsquos short-term agenda include
bull traffic safety - the committee would love to hear your thoughts on ways to make our streets safer such as road marking and lowering the Greendale Road speed limit to 50 kmhour and
bull beautification of the Wallacia village ndash the committee is keen to hear your thoughts on how to make the vil-lage a nicer place to live such as im-proving the amenity of the river
We look forward to meeting you and hearing your ideas

Wallacia Progress Association
