Reliance Industries rose as much as 3.17% and was the biggest gainer on the NSE index, after the company commissioned a project to produce paraxylene at Jamnagar in Gujarat. HDFC Bank Ltd was little changed ahead of the release of quarterly results later in the day, while ACC Ltd dropped 1%. Max Financial Services Ltd fell as much as 3.99% . Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd shares rise 4.33% to Rs828 after Economic Times reported that the company is planning to sell a stake of its home finance unit to private equity funds. Dollar Industries Ltd shares rise 5% to Rs1,379.70. The company listed on the National Stock exchange is known for its brands Bigboss and Force, and is listed on the Calcutta Stock Exchange. It has been in the thick of activity in the grey market of late ahead of the listing as investors expect it to be valued at a premium like its peers. Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd shares rise 8% to Rs255 after Dolla Khanna bought 1.2% stake in the company. Anil Kumar Goel also increased its stake to 7.78% from 5.9% in the company. Radico Khaitan Ltd shares rise 7% to Rs128.30 after Madhuri Madhusudan Kela bought 7.04 lakh shares in the company. Dalmia Bharat Ltd shares rise 1.2% to Rs2,110 after huge block deal. Around 2.83 million shares or 3.2% stake of the company changed hands in a single block deal, according to Bloomberg report. Buyers and sellers were not known. Nearly a dozen stocks including Apollo Hospital, Dr Lal PathLabs, Sintex Industries, SpiceJet, Health Global, Eveready Industries have been the top favourites of both domestic as well as foreign institutional investors during the March quarter 2017. Data show that institutions increased their stakes by more than 1% in these companies reflecting their strong faith in the growth prospects.
Oil opened the last day of a choppy trading week on a cautious note over doubts that an OPEC-led production cut was having the desired effect of restoring balance to a market that has been dogged by oversupply for more than two years.
