The Rt. Rev Brian Seage Bishop, Diocese of Mississippi
Book ClubThe Book Club will be meeting on Thursday, December 5, at 10 am in the parlor. Leslie Stanfield will lead the discussion on A Woman is No Man by Etaf Rum.
Synopsis:
In her debut novel, Etaf Rum tells the story of three generations of Palestinian-American women struggling to express their desires within the confines of their Arab culture in the wake of shocking intimate violence in their community—a story of culture and honor, secrets and betrayals, love and violence. Set in an America at once foreign to many and staggeringly close at hand, this book is an intimate glimpse into a controlling and closed cultural world, and a universal tale about family and the ways silence and shame can destroy those we have sworn to protect.
During Thanksgiving, we gather around the table and feast on turkey once a year.
During the Great Thanksgiving, we gather around the altar and share in the Body and Blood of Christ.
When I slow down in my life, rather than running the race to get somewhere else, (its always somewhere else) I begin to see true miracles, that "set my heart on fire". Some of the
truly valuable things I'm learning from leading a group on the Enneagram have to do with this slowing down to Be Here Now. And while that's particularly good advice for someone
like me who is a 7, I suspect it's all-around good advice for most of us. For those of you who are interested, the Enneagram is an ancient method of diving deep into one's self and soul and living a more gracious and joyous life. I recommend the following if you are interested in reading. The first is by an Episcopal priest named, Ian Cron, and the Book is The Road Back to You. It's funny, (he's a recovering alcoholic with a fabulous sense of humor and his co-author is who trained me in the Enneagram, Suzanne Stabile. Try it out and let me know what you think!) You know God gave us three sorts of people to care for and love and nurture and grow: God, other people and ourselves. What a wonderful mission, indeed. Until next month, with all love

Where else is inspiring every child “to imagine and create a better world” the daily curriculum?
Where else does a 24-acre school property allow teachers of toddlers through middle school to extend their classrooms and incorporate nature into their science, social studies, math, art, and writing curriculums?
Where else is a community-making retreat in the fall and a personal best-making hike on the Appalachian Trail each spring a part of your schoolwork?
Where else do students have daily access to an active art gallery
exhibiting works from regionally and nationally-renowned artists to enhance an extensive visual arts program?
Where else are students encouraged to be critical thinkers and problem solvers in a hands-on science lab and interactive makerspace?
Where else do students study Mississippi, American, and World history and current events in a thematic, multi-disciplinary curriculum focused on collaborative, constructionist problem- and project-based
learning?

Winter Solstice is a continuation of the summer camp experience for High School youth (9th – 12th grades). It begins on December 27th and runs through the morning of January 1st. Every year the theme for the session is created to help campers identify and wrestle with the difficult questions of faith, identity, and God in their life.
Established in 1947, Camp Bratton-Green is a Gray Center Christian camp ministry that’s supported by the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. Our goal is providing an overnight summer camp environment that’s safe, fun and inspirational for all campers and staff members. The sleepaway camp grounds are spread out over 210 scenic wooded acres near Canton, MS, that include beautiful 40-acre Rose Hill Lake and numerous other recreation opportunities that help connect camp participants with the Lord.
If you’d like to learn more about Camp Bratton-Green, or register your child for one of our upcoming Christian camp sessions, please call: (601) 859-1556, or email: [email protected]!
