As the month of October and the first tracking
period come to a close, there has been an impressive
uptick in our patient satisfaction scores.
It is important, now more than ever, that we finish
strong. At 66%, we are just TWO percentage
points shy of achieving our goal of 68% !
To receive our performance payout, all Medic
employees should be mindful of the following key
points:
The group performance pay program is
heavily tied to overall patient satisfaction.
Teamwork Between EMS Personnel is the #1
driver of overall patient satisfaction; if it takes
a big hit, overall patient satisfaction isn’t going to be far behind.
Regardless of the type of medical concern a patient we treat is dealing with, they still judge the level of service
they receive and they very well may end up on the other end of one of our patient satisfaction surveys.
Field personnel can still heavily influence the rating Medic receives for the final 75 remaining patient satisfaction surveys
by being mindful of the following:
Use AIDET on every call
Treat your partner and the other first responders on scene with the same level of respect
and teamwork – it does matter
Be mindful of what you say and how you react to everyone in the room
Please continue to stay focused this week and we will surely get to 68%. Please also note that
calculations including Patient Satisfaction surveys generally run two weeks after the tracking period
has ended (October 31st). Please be mindful and patient as we calculate the Performance Pay
scores.
Thank you for all you do to help Medic succeed as an Agency. We couldn’t do it without you!
Keep Up the Good Work!
Enrollment in the 2010 IV/IO study is complete. The research team at Medic would like to thank everyone for their hard
work and efforts during this project. Completing a randomized clinical trial in the prehospital setting is no small feat and is
due in large part to your commitment. Results of the study will be forthcoming from Dr. Studnek so stay tuned.
Again, thank you for your commitment to prehospital research the IV/IO study could not have been completed without your
participation, input and reporting. Thank you for all your contributions.
The tibial IO will be the primary site for insertion during cardiac arrest, with peripheral IV and humeral IO serving as
alternative sites. Jonathan Studnek, Steve Vandeventer and Rosalyn Reades

Implemented in our CIGNA Prescription plan for
the following 3 chronic conditions:
1. High Cholesterol
2. High Blood Pressure
3. Acid Reflux/Stomach Acid (i.e. Nexium)
Step therapy will force employees to try the generic
version of the drug first before being allowed by the plan to
move on to a preferred drug; then they must try the
preferred before they can receive the non-preferred. Once
the employee has tried the generic and preferred drug,
they may use the non-preferred from that point forward.
**Employees currently using these medications will be notified by
Cigna upon refill and given 60 days to switch to generic medicine.**
