The news is that those calls are now answered by “Jeff” at the SW Neighborhood Service Center on Genesee St. During business hours Jeff can help you to get information, request services and report problems. His RPD and Neighborhood Service Center partners are usually only steps away, giving him ready access to assistance. After business hours centralized 3-1-1 operators offer 24x7 access. Typical 3-1-1 requests include maintenance for potholes, sidewalks, streetlights, street sweeping, graffiti removal, stray animals, barking dogs, noise, litter and trash issues, etc., etc. Gun Buy-Back September 21 At the April TBMA meeting Arnett Blvd. leader Susan Morehouse explained the community gun buy-back event planned with RPD, for Sept. 21 at His Branches, 342 Arnett. More info to come. Monthly Thurston-Brooks Merchants Association meetings are now held at Happy Diner, 366 Thurston Rd. Meetings start at 8:30. Arrive at 8 for a great breakfast, or just have a coffee. ♫ Ease on Down... ♫ Thurston-Arnett, Saturday May 18! 30 businesses and organizations signed up to host our 3 rd annual promotion Saturday, May 18, all along Thurston Rd. and down Arnett Blvd.! From 12 noon until 5 p.m. music will fill the air from several venues! The SWAN Band will play at the Rochester Presbyterian Home, and the BureauCats Blues Band will play at 529 Thurston. Other businesses, like English Designs above, will offer sidewalk sales, store specials, gifts, and prizes. Restaurants will offer food and drink specials on the sidewalks. The YMCA will host games for youngsters and families. The Arnett Library and shops on Arnett Blvd will be open too! Thanks go to the 30 businesses that donated $25 each to help buy flyers, ads and postcards mailed to over 13,000 neighborhood residents, and more. Spread the word! See y’all Saturday May 18! Karen Tipple Remembered Once a familiar face on Thurston, Karen left us for a better place 5 years ago this month. Karen was known for her evening walks, talking to troubled youth. Karen was involved with PACTAC and other public safety projects for many years. She is missed!
