Launched in September 2006, Maktoob Research combines the region’s largestonline consumer panel with the latest in international online research standards,to provide marketing professionals with better insights on consumer opinions,needs and expectations.

Focusing primarily on the Middle East and North Africa, Maktoob Research offersa consumer panel in about 30 countries. Maktoob Research can target its panelmembers by demographics, such as age, gender, occupation among others, whichmakes it possible to target specific areas, a survey targeted at housewives forexample. Key behavioural patterns are available too.

Maktoob Research not only provides full project support to its clients via surveyprogramming, translations and sampling, but also a complete research packagefrom survey development to analysis and reporting, including consultancy.

An Online Research Portal can be made available - an online tool for real-timeanalysis. During an on-going research, research data will be available 24/7.

Maktoob Research has developed proprietary research software that allows forbuilding questionnaires easily and fast, even the more complex survey designs.The surveys can be personalised, integrating companies’ logo and colours. Thedata output can be made available in Excel, CSV, or SPSS.

Before joining Maktoob, Ahmed was Senior Consultant withdatabase marketing firm Cross World Network, where he developedmarketing programs for Acxiom Corporation and McCannRelationship Marketing. He also served as Vice President, Marketingat Omnipod, a developer of Internet based software based in NewYork and as Vice President of Marketing for Human-i-Tees, Inc.,where he helped grow revenues from $1 Million to $45 Millionannually in less than six years, making it the US's leading cause-related cataloguer of products targeting the youth and educationmarkets. Ahmed has also published articles on marketing topics forvarious U.S. based direct marketing trade publications.

Tamara Deprez

General Manager, Maktoob Research

Tamara Deprez started up Maktoob Research in May 2006 andsucceeded in making it a real research product for professionals inthe marketing and research industry in and outside Dubai.

Before launching Maktoob Research, she spent six years working inonline quantitative and qualitative research with leadinginternational research agencies in Europe and the Middle East: atTNS NIPO in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) for 2.5 years and atMotivaction International in Amsterdam for 2.5 years. She alsoheaded up IPSOS’ Qualitative Department in Dubai (the United ArabEmirates) for 1 year.

Tamara has extensive experience in online research, print mediaresearch, lifestyle research, consumer research and marketingconsultancy within different industry sectors.

She holds a diploma from SPSS Benelux, which enables her to workconfidently with multivariate techniques, such as regression, factorand correspondence analysis.

Sameh Lutfi

With 13 diverse years of extensive experience in Marketing, BusinessDevelopment and Consultancy, Sameh Lutfi has gained solid hands-on and managerial experience in various domains, successfullyarming himself with the required sets of skills that corporateleadership requires.

Sameh Lutfi’s most recent assignment was with a leading regional e-commerce concern, as the Sales and Marketing Manager, but wherehis responsibility extended to leading all business developmentinitiatives and managing the development of new value-addingproducts and features to this already successful online environmentacross the region.

Sameh Lutfi is a creative problem solver who accurately assessesbusiness requirements and needs and successfully transformsmarket environment challenges into tangible business opportunities.

Jigar comes from a sales and business development backgroundwith a Masters Degree in Marketing. He has 3 years of experience inthe marketing research industry.

Jigar was earlier working with one the world’s largest marketresearch off-shore solutions companies. He was primarilyresponsible for developing and managing clients in the NorthAmerican region. He has a through understanding of managingclients through various phases of the sales cycle. From initial salesto account management, he has hands-on experience of workingwith some of the largest market research companies in the world.

In his role as Business Development Manager with MaktoobResearch, Jigar is primarily responsible for managing existing clientaccounts, as well as acquiring new accounts and growing thecompany’s market share of the industry in the UAE.

Jigar holds a Bachelors Degree in Management Studies and aMasters Degree in Marketing from Mumbai University, India.

Yasmina Amara

Yasmina Amara has 5 years of working experience in Jordan. Shespent 3 years at Inditex Group, one of the world’s leading textiledistribution groups where she gained an understanding of productmanagement, team management and consumer behavior.

The other 2 years of Yasmina’s career were in themarketing/business consulting sector with ProGroup & Y-Consult,where she was teaching marketing theories, conducting bothqualitative and quantitative market research, developing marketplans and market strategies for a wide range of industries.

Yasmina holds a BSc degree in marketing and a MSc degree inBusiness Administration from Blekinge Institute of Technology inSweden, with focus on the Business Intelligence area, in whichmarket intelligence is a vital part.

Marouane Sanhaji

Marouane comes from an IT background with a degree inManagement Information Systems from the U.S. with over 6 yearsof experience in the marketing research industry.

Marouane started his market research career in Morocco with aglobal market research agency for 3 years. Marouane was asked tomove to Egypt to handle one of their biggest FMCG accounts. Hestayed in that position for about half a year, and went then toDubai, where he started up their interactive research departmentabout three years ago.

Marouane has a full understanding of the market research industryacross the region, as well as a thorough grasp on the internet usageand habits in the Arab World.

Marouane has launched one of the first fully managed panels in theregion and has been able to maintain high quality data collectionfrom the online surveys conducted in the UAE and KSA.

Marouane has extensive experience in database management,panel recruitment and retention, as well as online research normsand best practices.
