Once a lonely little village on the road from Denpasar to Bukit Peninsula, Kuta is now the tourist Mecca of Bali, popular mainly among the young and adventurous. Kuta beach is one of the first favorite beaches discovered by tourist. Coconut trees line the sand beach as far as the eyes can see towards the north stopped by the runway of Denpasar's airport far in the west. The sunset in Kuta is most breathtaking. On the south, the beach is fenced by the airport's runway, which gives the visitors a breathtaking landing experience. Kuta Beach bustles with tourists' vendors and locals. It's the most popular beach in Bali and the island's number one party zone. The beach stretches as far north as the eyes can see. As short walk away north, the waves will invite to surfing. Rapid development and an influx of visitors haven't kept the surfers away and Kuta still remains one of Bali's best surfing beaches and a great place to enjoy a beach lifestyle.

While the surfers are still part of the Kuta scene, it's the shopping, nightlife and party vibes that attracts thousands of visitors. There's a huge choice of accommodation, restaurants and entertainment. The accommodation in Kuta range from a modest home stay for a few dollars a night to luxurious, five star, international hotels costing several hundred

to several thousand dollars a night. Legian Street, situated directly behind the row of hotels that face the beach, is lined with shops of all varieties. We can find any Balinese handicrafts here, from the least expensive to the most exquisite; or unique stores such as the leather store staffed by two young Balinese men that will perfectly sculpt a leather jacket. (They are all extremely talented artists). At night, Kuta is alive with night life. Western influences create discotheques, dance clubs, and pubs. Gastronomical demands inspire a multitude of restaurants, serving traditional Indonesian and Balinese food to various ethnic meals from Japan, Switzerland, etc. As if these were not enough, various Balinese dance performances are staged in Kuta every night. HISTORY

First (before 1981) words or combinations of the five letters J + O + G + E + R have not been there or at least we have never seen or heard used anywhere, anytime and by anyone else, but at the end year 1980, when we plan to have a name for our little shop that time we will open on Jl. 37 Sulawesi, Denpasar (right in front of Pasar Badung - Bali's largest traditional market), by the Office of Trade, we requested and even required to have a name for our store, so our store can be distinguished from the others shops which of course well or even has a name, such as the Sinar Mas Stores, Independent Stores, Toko Jaya Abadi, Toko Cheap, Simple Stores and others, but we / I (Joseph Theodore Wulianadi) who were born on the date nine years nine months in 1951 (in on a bed) in Denpasar (the capital of Bali), which was apparently accustomed to being

20

Page 19: makalah skal bali

"other than the other" (like nyleneh) time as usual or by nature, subjective, autonomous (independent) and the fair refused to name our store with a common name or let alone the smell of "public domain".

From the way I normally do well, it was time for me (for several days) racked his brain (think / argue with my own), reflection and meditation for tinkering with a few letters or words to be processed into a name that should be minimal UNIEK true. And that time is not just a coincidence that we / I choose five letters reads JOGER to call our store we will open and we take care of the time was their commercial licenses, because five-letter combination sounds JOGER it was deliberately made not only because we really Other than the others, but also because of the name / word / sound JOGER it is also a goodwill / intent / desires / goals / intentions are pure show up and get out from the deepest depths of our hearts to remember and / or appreciate the goodness of Mr. Gerhard Seeger, a former school friend I had (in Hotelfachshule, Bad Wiesee, West Germany, 1970s) that has been menghibahkan fresh funds amounting to U.S. $ 20,000 as a wedding gift we (me and my beloved wife Kusdarijati Ery), where a JOGER ( E-mail her letters read like "E" in call "GOOD" or "ECONOMY") it is a merger between the two letters before my name Joseph Theodore Wulianadi with three letter name of our friend Mr front. Gerhard Seeger, where in addition to really read the new (purely the result of our innovation / not public domain), different and UNIEK, apparently JOGER name is indeed easy to remember, good to hear, barbau males and we also really liked the JOGER the name and sound.

Then starting on January 19, 1981 (the day of birth JOGER), a rose in a practical JOGER, de facto and completely open (in the forum publicum) we use to name our first store, because at that time in addition to include them in our trade permits , also have direct JOGER name we put on our store signage at that time (sorry!) is still necessary and still be read and smelled like a westerner, namely "BATIK SHOP ART & JOGER" which we display in front of our store. And since then also the actual name of pure JOGER engineering or creation is the result I / we are starting our life, to guard, nurture and grow to develop moral values, social values, economic and spiritual in our pursuit as "an artist entrepreneur" or "artists who businessman" by continuing to behave exactly BAJU2RA5BER alias being good, honest, friendly, diligent, responsible, courageous, initiative, grateful, and so we can actually be beneficial not only for ourselves or our store narrowly, but also beneficial to the stakeholders (others) as well as for the environment that supposedly we both loved and desired sustainability fairly (fair and civilized) and continuous.

Thus, prior to January 19, 1981 had never been there other parties who see, hear, wear, interested, concerned, keep, maintain and develop a JOGER until may and can become a big name and fragrant that even often considered synonymous with T Shirts - T Shirts or T-shirts (T-shirts) as well as souvenirs-souvenirs with the design of words UNIEK / Mr typical work. Joger that although actually already have the ability, opportunity and a

21

huge market demand to open new branches or expand its wings everywhere, but because it felt and realized that we were not the trees that have branches and birds should also not develop wings to get there Let, then from the date of July 7, 1987 (777), in addition to deciding to have only one store located on Jl. Raya Kuta (has always been without a number), Kuta, Bali this course, we also strictly limit the purchase of T-shirts (T Shirts) JOGER, and also expressly prohibit the sale of all trademarked products, stamped and autographed JOGER JOGER for commercial use as an ordinary commodity outside one of our outlets since 1990 has been referred to as JOGER Words Factory, (Jl. Raya Kuta, Kuta, Bali).
