Page 4: Mag analysis

• The typeface for the cover of this magazine is a sans serif font, this means that the font does not have little flicks on the end of the letters, just like the font in this presentation. This font is easily read by the majority of audiences.

• The feature article image covers the masthead slightly but it is still readable, this makes the magazine look less tacky and more professional. The strap line also covers the start of the mast head, this is a little bit of text, usually known as a slogan, which describes the magazine. In this particular magazine the strapline is “The Ultimate Football Magazine”.

• The Issue Date, Barcode and Price are on every magazine, although different layouts mean that they both can be put in different places around the main article image.

• Celebrity Endorsement is used widely in this magazine, mainly because the whole magazine is based upon celebrities.

• Bright colours on the front cover attract attention, the most noticeable are the red fills on both puffs, red is not to interest men more than any other colour. There is also bright colour on the main cover line which draws attention to the text ‘100’, this could mean that the main article within this magazine is long and worth reading. The puff at the top of the page is also in bright colours, I suspect this is due to the puff being an out of the ordinary question ‘Fish playing football!?’

• Plugs are text which can be supported by images which ‘plug’ up empty areas on the cover, although on this mag the plugs support the main article image.

• All texts are noticeable and the fonts are easy to read.

CONTENTS PAGEMain article/ Dominant image takes up majority of right page. Smaller images surround

main image, with supporting text and page numbers.

Wide variety of colour across the pages due to kit and house colours.

A picture of the page itself, this could be a key selling point?

Images cover ¾ of double page with supporting text.

Contents pages split into 3. Planet Football is the regular section of the magazine.

Second most dominant image.

Page 6: Mag analysis

• Contents page is split over the double page.

• The dominant image, for the main article takes up the majority of the right hand side page.

• Smaller images surround the two dominant images, with supporting text and page numbers.

• There is a wide variety of colours across the two pages, due to kit colours and the house theme. The house theme consists of the colours red, yellow and black.

• The key selling points could be the articles in which the two dominant images represent and also Planet Football has an image of the page itself, this could also be a regular selling point for the magazine.

• The images cover ¾ of the double page, this suggests that the magazine is suited for both , people who like to read and those who like to look at pictures. The images also have supporting text and page numbers.

• The supporting text around images consists of a very brief summary of the article and then the page numbers. The supporting text are in a white box with black sans serif text and red font for the page numbers. The colour red is known to attract males attention more than any other colour.

• Contents list is split up into 3 sections, Upfront (new news), Features (this month’s specials) and Planet Football (regular layout of news).
