Magazine analysisBy Joseph Julian
This is the mast head and will be the first thing that a potential buyers eyes will see first so by using red and white which really stands out gives the magazine a better chance of being bought. Also it lets the reader know what the magazine is called
This is just the barcode and will tell the reader the price and issue just above it , it is just a tag which tills will scan and is there for easy access
This strapline is used because if the magazine is stacked then the customer will see it and see what the magazine has to offer which in this case is loads of new info on all the latest gadgets. This will help attract customers
The main image is placed in the dead centre and is of an attractive women holding a phone while it seems to be taking her clothes of this will help the magazine because it is a magazine aimed at men and having a women on the front will make them want to buy it
These are used to let readers know hats in store for them and as it says 147 tech gadgets for every man you know this mag is aimed at men
These are once again to let the reader know what's in store for them but this time it is pacific objects so is more known as the best bits in the mag
Even though this isn't a direct music magazine I
found it copies the look of a music magazine ‘Q’
The iconic icon of Q is bright and bold and stands out very clearly also it has the singer from cold plays arm going through the q showing that this is my bands issue of q
This is slanted but stands out because of its bright yellow and tells the customer that there recapping everything that happened in 2011 ( to do with music)
The straplines are big bold and clear and really stand out and need to because of the hectic background
Uses the word ‘secrets, by using this it instantly attracts customers because everyone loves hearing other peoples secrets and being in on them .
Barcode there for easy scanning
The background of the mag is not its usual white showing that this is a special edition + the background is of the new album by Coldplay mylo xyloto so just reinforces its about Coldplay
The picture is of the singer of Coldplay and he seems to be spinning which is an active thing to do like there new album and the background . Maybe it was intended to link the three together
Asking a rhetorical question making a potential reader think about it then want to buy it to see if he/she was right
The picture of the rapper is kind of gritty and makes him look tough and that he shouldn’t be messed with and lets the reader know this magazine has a focus on him
The title Eminem comes clean is bold and bright and stands out + readers love to know what he is actually like so makes a better selling position
The title is black and red and is the theme of the magazines text and look it is big and most likely the first thing potential readers will see
This says to a potential buyer that this magazine is real and about real people and music and not fake in anyway building a trust between the magazine and the reader
Straplines just let the reader know there is more in the magazine and should buy it to find out about all the latest
This just lets the reader now the issue and date Referring to the title and letting the reader know this is the contents page
This will be the band on the front cover mostly and will give a page of where to find them and more often than not will be a double page spread
The layout is the same as the front cover really black red and white and very tidy it just keeps a sense of organisation and familiarity about the magazine.
Lets the reader what to look forward to next month and lets the readers know that it is a monthly magazine
The picture will be of the first band or singer to get reviewed normally and buy adding in reviews in its own section makes it seem like it’s a must read
Big and bold and stands out
Very clean and minimalist not overpowering and easy to look at and find out what's in this issue
Barley visible but just noticeable the first letter of the title of the magazine it is subtle and just matches the rest of the page while still letting the reader know the name of the magazine
A attractive women laying on her back with her legs on show draw the readers attention in on her letting the reader that she has a part to play in this magazine plus her legs make a V shape which once again references the title
The background is black to white and is the theme for the contents page and the colours blend really well making the magazine look aesthetically pleasing to look at
The title of the magazine is here but unlike the others doesn’t mention contents anywhere also the title is the only thing that isn't following the theme of black and white apart from the blue banner at the bottom signifying these may be more important.
The image and the background are all in black and white and give it a classical look to the magazine the picture is of a man and a women sharing a stool which shows there partners in singing or just very close to one another or both and these will also probably be on the double page spread
This a quote from one of the people and just gives the reader a small insight on what's to come from this pair in the magazine
The text is also in black and white and also very minimalist and neat and is easy on the eye so readers are easily able to pick up what's in the magazine
Lady gaga letting you know its about her
The big L once again makes it look good plus lets you know that it is about lady gaga
Big picture of gaga looking at the reader seductively while doing a sexual pose draws the reader in
The layout of the page keeps with Q’s style white and red and black keeping and order to it
Sitting on a usa flag striking a seductive pose with the red hair and the red flag linking in together it is also part of the text and isn't separate and blends in very well
Saying that she is know in USA and this is going to be about her in USA
Text is simplistic
Makes it seem more dramatic
Lets the reader know that it is about this band
Lot more hectic and pictures dotted everywhere makes it look very interesting and the hectic style probably relates to the bands hectic life
Still quite simplistic text that’s easy to read
