FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT:

Firmware updates will restore the Tablet to original factory settings.

It is strongly recommended that you back-up your system before performing

a firmware upgrade.

All of the procedures in this guide are organized in a sequential, step-by-step

format. The information has been compiled to provide the user and technical

personnel with an easy to read and handy firmware update guide.

The following reference should be carefully followed to ensure fast & smooth

Firmware Update procedure.

Materials Needed:

1. Computer or Laptop

2. Tablet (Wave 8 model)

3. Rock chip Batch Tool

4. Rock chip driver

5. Wave 8 image file

6. Usb cable


Procedure:

I. Install Rock chip driver to your computer or laptop

Note: For the first timer to personally do upgrade their wave8 tablet, you need to

install first the rock chip driver to your computer or laptop before proceeding to the

wave 8 firmware upgrade. This procedure is only done once. Failure to install the

Rock chip driver to you computer or laptop will cause firmware update error.

1. Turn on the tablet (wave 8) and then connect the tablet to your computer or laptop

using usb cable.

2. Open “Computer” from the start menu

3. Right click the “Computer” then select “Manage”


4. Click “Device Manager” then right click “33GT”

5. Select “Browse my computer for driver software Locate and install driver

manually.”


6. Find the driver to the “Wave 8 Firmware” folder.

Wave 8 Firmware/RockchipBatchTool V1.7/Driver/x86/win7

Then click “OK”

Note: Install the correct driver according to your computer OS version.

(2000, vista, win7, win8, xp)

7. Wait for a minute until a message will pop up at the lower right corner of your

computer indicating that the “Rock chip driver software was installed successfully.”

Once the Rock chip driver was successfully installed. This time you are now ready for

Firmware Update.


II. Firmware Update

1. Open “Wave 8 Firmware” folder. Then double click RK Batch Tool V_1.7 folder

2. Double click Batch Tool folder.

3. Then double click RKBatchTool


4. Click the button on the upper right corner to select the Firmware Image File for your

Wave 8 tablet model.

Note: The device button # 1 is color Pink. This indicates that your computer has detected your tablet.

5. From Wave 8 Firmware folder, double click “Wave8_33GT_20150407_v2.0 2X5

Camera” folder


6. Click “update” image file, then click the “Open” button.

7. Once the correct image file was set up. In the text box, it indicates the “Loading

firmware Finished”. Click the “Switch” button to turn off the Wave 8 tablet and wait

until the device button #1 “Pink color” change into “Green color”.


8. When the tablet turns off, in the text box, it indicates the “Switch Done Success

<1>”. If the device button #1 change its color into “Green color”, then click the

“Upgrade Button”

9. As you click the “Upgrade button”, it indicates “Download Firmware Start” at the

text box. And the device button becomes “Blinking Yellow color” during firmware

downloading. Wait for 3 – 5 minutes to finish firmware downloading. Note: Do not interrupt the Wave 8 tablet and the RK Batch Tool while upgrading is in process.

Interrupting the upgrade process will cause software failure (not booting) of tablet.


10. Once the upgrade process is done, a confirmation message in the text box appears

“Upgrade Done Success<1>”. Wait for few seconds until the device button #1 will

become “Pink color” again. That will indicate the firmware software was successfully

downloaded to the wave 8 tablet. Disconnect the tablet from the computer and wait

until the tablet was totally turn on before using.
