Welcome to the 102nd Lake Hayes A&P Show!

Our small committee of volunteers have been working hard to create this great family day out. You are invited to come and enjoy the trade displays and stalls, family entertainment and competitions. Catching up with all those locals who have been attending the show for years, or meeting those who are attending for the first time.

The Lake Hayes A & P Show is not big compared to other Shows, our grounds are sandwiched between a lake and a state highway, we have the most picturesque site in the country. We aim to provide locals and visitors with a traditional rural day out with a modern and creative flair. In recent years, we have certainly maintained our popularity; trade space is booked in, up to one year in advance, and there’s a waiting list.

We make a conscious decision to cater for the traditional A&P enthusiast, offering equestrian competitions, sheep and wool classes, shearing competitions and displays, home industry sections, but in recent years have moulded our schedule to incorporate events for townsfolk and rural lifestyle block families. This year we have added in a section for Miniature Horses – one that is sure to be a crowd pleaser, plus the Clydesdales are back. So, there actually is ‘something for everyone’ at the Lake Hayes A & P Show!

A huge thank you goes out to our loyal members and sponsors, who provide the financial backing so that we can run this event year and after year, and thank you also to the competitors (many of whom travel from afar), trade site vendors, spectators and volunteers. Show day simply would not happen without you. Our Red Ribbon sponsor for this year is the Arrowtown Retirement Lifestyle Village. An exciting new development for our community, and we thank them for their support.

Lake County A&P Society Rules & Regulations G1. Admission - Adults $10.00; all school children Free; Members free on presentation of ticket

or wristband. G2. No exhibits to be removed from the ground before 4:30pm except with the consent of the

class Steward. G3. This Show supports the RAS ‘Yellow Card’ system, which will operate in all sections of all RAS

affiliated Shows and will be offered for any inappropriate behavior towards Show officials, Judges, fellow competitors or any other third party connected with the Show, bringing the discipline into disrepute, or cases which are of a less serious nature to the above in accordance with the Conduct of Members, Owners, Lessees, Competitors and/or Exhibitors as provided in the RAS Competitors and Judges Rulebook and Rule 13 of the RAS Constitution.

G4. The Stewards in the various classes are empowered to prevent any person interfering with the judges during adjudication. Only the Judge, Stewards and Secretary will be permitted inside the ring or pavilion while the exhibits are being judged.

G5. The Judges are empowered to withhold prize money or awards in any section in which there is not sufficient merit.

G6. All protests in writing to be lodged with the Secretary, accompanied with a deposit of $25 within 30 minutes of adjudication. If in the opinion of the Committee such protest is deemed frivolous, the deposit will be forfeited. The decision of the Dispute Committee will be final.

G7. The Committee will not hold itself responsible for any loss, damage, or misdelivery of stock or other exhibits at the show, notwithstanding, the committee will use its best endeavours to attend to the interests of the exhibitors.

G8. The stewards reserve the right to alter the programme. G9. Competitors in local events must permanently reside within 30km of the shores of Lake

Wakatipu. G10. Any person infringing the rules of the Society will be liable to a penalty not exceeding $50. G11. The Society accepts no responsibility whatsoever in regard to accidents that may occur. G12. All trophies are to be returned to the Secretary on or before Show Day cleaned and polished. G13. All dogs to be kept on a lead at all times. G14. All cattle entered for showing or exhibiting must be from a current TB Clear Status Herd.

Equestrian Competition Rules & Regulations E1. Judging begins for Horses and Ponies at 8am sharp and on no account will be delayed for exhibits not to

hand. E2. Entry monies must be paid before horses or ponies are allowed to compete in any class. E3. Entries are required to be made on www.showdayonline.com or the official entry form accompanied by the

total entry fees payable, correctly calculated, and be in the hands of the Show secretary by midday on the closing date, 19 December 2015

E4. The responsibility for eligibility and accuracy of entries rests solely with the exhibitors. E5. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Secretary, but must include an additional 50% of the

fee. E6. All entries must be made in the name of the bona fide owner of the exhibits hereinafter called the Exhibitor,

and such exhibits must have been the property of the Exhibitor at the time of entry. Registered Lessees of animals are permitted to enter under their own name.

E7. No refunds will be given unless application accompanied by a veterinary or doctors certificate, then less 10%. E8. Organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry, without stating a reason. E9. Only one person in charge of each lot of horses will be admitted free. E10. Stewards in the various classes are empowered to prevent any person interfering with the judges during

adjudication. E11. Only the Judge, Stewards and Secretary are permitted inside the ring while the exhibits are being judged. E12. The Judges are empowered to withhold prize money or awards in any section or class in which there is not

sufficient merit. E13. Competitors in local events must permanently reside within 30km of the shores of Lake Wakatipu. E14. All protests in writing to be lodged with the Secretary, accompanied with a deposit of $25 within 30 minutes

of adjudication. If in the opinion of the Committee such protest is deemed frivolous, the deposit will be forfeited. The decision of the Dispute Committee will be final.

E15. Any person infringing the rules of the Society will be liable to a penalty not exceeding $50. E16. Where height is specified in the Horse and Pony sections, current height certificate must be carried and

produced on request. Prize will not be awarded to anyone not producing their height certificate. E17. Horse and pony height and performance cards must be carried. Failure to produce upon request will result

in elimination. All wins in Novice classes within each section count and must be recorded. Should a novice horse or pony win an Open conformation class, these wins must also be recorded. Once a horse or pony has achieved six wins in either the conformation or Paced & Mannered, this horse is not eligible to return to Novice status should it change sections at the beginning of the new season. A Novice is a horse or pony which has not won six wins in relevant classes at the time of the Show, not at the time of entry.

E18. Officials have the power in the equestrian sections to move horses or ponies to their correct classes with the approval and on advice of Judges.

E19. E20. Competitors must parade or forfeit prize money. E21. RAS RULE 33 STATES: The use of tranquilisers, stimulants, or any drugs capable of affecting the performance

of horses and ponies is forbidden. E22. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the show and that

testing of all animals is at the owner’s risk. Testing for forbidden substances will be carried out under the Royal Agricultural Society (Incorporated) (“RAS”) Forbidden Substance Judiciary Committee (FSJC) procedures and rules (Refer Rule 10 Royal Agricultural Society By-Laws and Regulations Section 55A).

E23. Points for Special Prizes and Cups in Aggregate: in all sections - first 5, second 3, third 2, and fourth 1. Champion 2 points extra, Reserve 1 point. In the event of a tie, the exhibitor gaining the most first prizes to be declared the winner.

E24. All trophies are to be returned to the Secretary’s office on or before Show Day cleaned and polished.
