lifting Christ loving people living God’s Word January 2015 Conway First Church of the Nazarene is an incredible church with a long, rich history. Since 1919, we have been sharing the love of Jesus and the hope of the Gospel with our commu- nity. Through the years people have given and served sacrificially and today we stand upon the strong foundation they established. As beautiful as our history is, we are convinced that the best is yet to come. As we approach our centennial celebration in 2019 we are con- vinced that the next 5 years could actually be the most compelling part of the story of Con- way First Church of the Nazarene. As we begin 2015, we will focus on God’s vision for our church. Sunday, January 11, will be “VISION SUNDAY.” We will share about the journey that our church leadership team has been on and the picture of the future that God is painting for our church. We hope that you will join us for what is sure to be a monumentally significant day in the always unfolding story of God and His people at Conway Nazarene.

Conway First Church of the Nazarene is an incredible church with a long, rich history. Since 1919, we have been sharing the love of Jesus and the hope of the Gospel with our commu-nity. Become a Volunteer in 2015Our first opportunity to serve in 2015 begins on January 6th. This is when the City of Hope Outreach Academy begins its second semester. The Kids Academy is a time where students, kindergarten through high school, can visit the Community Center and receive tutoring and mentoring from 4-5pm Monday through Thursday. We need volunteers who are willing to give up 1 hour of their week. Our goal is to have at least 12 volunteers this semester. Plans for this semester include a community garden, a new soccer goal, and the addition of computers. Please consider serving your community by being apart of our ef-forts on Ash Street. Thank you in advance for your willingness to serve and, as always, please contact Jill Steed with any questions.

It's that time of year again - time for Upward basketball! We need lots of help and prayers once again to have a successful Upward season. If you are willing and can help in any of these areas, please contact Lindell (501-472-4038, [email protected]) or Rhonda Atkinson (501-472-6748, [email protected]). Here are all of the areas where we need volunteers:

Weekly practices:• Practice partners - Need 2 people (one on Monday night and one on Tuesday night)

each week to unlock the gym, answer any questions that parents may have, and lock the gym when practice is over. The practices on Monday night are at 6:00, 7:00, & 8:00 with a 9:10 finish time and Tuesday night practices are 6:00 & 7:00 with an 8:10 finish time. The dates are Jan 5 - Feb 26 (8 weeks).

Friday night games (7PM & 8PM, Jan. 16-Feb. 27):• Greeters - 2 people needed to direct teams to the rooms they should be in, line the

teams up when it's time to start playing, and go back and get them from the rooms when halftime is over.

• Devotion - 1 person to do a 2-3 minute devotion during the halftime of the 7PM & 8PM games.

• Sound/Scoreboard - 1-2 people to do the sound (announcing players) and operate the scoreboard at the 7PM & 8PM games.

• Concessions - 2-3 people to assist in the concession stand. Contact Windy Favre at 501-697-2574 if you are willing to help in this area.

Saturday games (9AM, 10AM, 11AM & 12PM, Jan. 17-Feb. 28):• Greeters - (same responsibility as Friday nights)• Devotion - (same responibilities as Friday nights)• Sound/Scoreboard - (same responsibilities as Friday nights)• Concessions - (same responsibilities as Friday nights) If you are willing and can help in any of these areas, please contact Lindell (501-472-4038, [email protected]) or Rhonda Atkinson (501-472-6748, [email protected]).

Jr. High & High School

We would like to a take a moment to thank TJ Virden for his leadership of the student ministry of our church

over the last 3 years. He has served with passion, ex- cellence and creativity as he has poured out his life for our junior high and high school students. At the end of 2014, TJ transitioned from our staff team to focus

more time on his family and continue serving our teens as a volunteer lead-er. He and Brianna will continue to be a vital part of ministry at Conway Nazarene.

We are excited to announce that on January 11th we will be welcome Jason Spears to our staff leadership team. He and his wife, Lindsey, will begin leading Canvas Student Minis-try alongside the incredible team of volunteers we already have in place. Many of you already know Jason from his history with Conway Nazarene. He served as a volunteer under Pastor Kent’s leadership and has been doing a phenomenal job pastoring the students at Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene for the last sever-al years. Jason and Lindsey will be joining our church body along with their children, Tucker and Shelby Rae. We believe God has extraordinary days ahead for our teens and the youth ministry of our church.
