over the 6 day event. The Event has been so successful over the past few years, being recognised this year as a finalist in The Specialty Press Events and Tourism Awards in the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement and Community Awards. “Being family friendly, the event offers some-thing for everyone, from young families to grey nomads.” Chairman, Arthur Falconer said. Many visitors travel either in motor homes or towing caravans. There are also many caravan clubs who travel to the event, with one club from the NSW Central Coast already pre-booked for the 2014 event. “The sponsorship packages are developed to offer maximum cost/benefit to sponsors, and to fit within every budget. We can also tailor packages to suit the needs of sponsors,” Arthur Falconer said. For more detailed information on sponsorship opportunities for the 2014 event, please call Danni Jenkins at Adloyalty on 02 6344 1846.

INFLATE YOUR BUSINESS IDENTITY Canowindra Challenge Incorporated is pleased to announce they are offering a number of sponsorship opportunities to companies wanting to increase their public exposure through association with this unique family friendly event. Ballooning is relatively unique in Australia and the Canowindra Balloon Challenge is by far the biggest event of its type in the southern hemisphere. Canowindra Challenge Incorporated is a community driven, not for profit organisation. This makes the Canowindra Balloon Challenge an ideal vehicle to expose and promote a wide range of products and services through direct exposure to visitors, spectators and to a wider national audience through the high levels of media attention the event receives. In 2013 alone, the event received over $300,000 worth of media exposure! Canowindra Balloon Challenge is one of the biggest regional events in NSW, attracting well in excess of 11,000 visitors and spectators

NO CAMELS REQUIRED Due to popular demand local band Static Nomadic return 7pm Saturday 26 October at taste Canowindra. Olly Statham will do a special set of his own material to kick off the evening before he joins the band for the rest of the evening. This great show will be a down home world music bonanza. Static Nomadic are bringing their local original songs to taste Canowindra in a night which will combine the music and produce of local artists and farmers. Static Nomadic contains locals Greg McLaren, Sam Statham, Shawn Lawler and Andrew “Wooly” Wooldridge and have been playing together in bars, pubs, sheds, tents, paddocks, verandahs and kitchens for over 10 years. The boys fit their band around the logistics of three working farm businesses, nine young offspring, and having members based at Canowindra, Woodstock, Bondi and Musswell-brook – the band is both Static and Nomadic. They will bring their original songs and dis-tinctive guitar and trumpet arrangements. The repertoire includes songs inspired by hill billy love songs, back door blues, half sung hip hop and bush reggae and are sure to please the emotionally deficient and the hearing im-paired. The crowd favourite ‘Gregory Killed the Cat” will chronicle the bands musical mis-sion to rid Australia of carnivorous feral ani-mals. Static Nomadic are performing at taste Canowindra on Saturday 10 August and book-ings for dinner and show are essential. Nib-bles and a main course are offered in the ticket price, dessert will be available for those that would like it and can be ordered paid for on the night, all for the great price of $50.

AN INVESTMENT IN OUR COMMUNITY The Community Bank initiative was developed by Bendigo Bank to provide communities around Australia with banking services and access to an ongoing source of local funding. It is a locally owned and operated company, which gives 50% of its profits back to the community. The Canowindra Community Bank committee have been active in the community, securing pledges from local businesses and residents, but we still need more. A pledge is not a donation. Every dollar you pledge allows you one share in the Company which will operate the local branch. Being a shareholder in the Company allows you a dividend on your investment plus one vote, which enables you to have a say in the direction of the Company. “Many people have mentioned that they would like to see improved aged care facilities, day care facilities and school funding.” Chairwoman, Cheryl Newsom said. You are not required to contribute any money during the Pledge stage. Pledges are simply used to gauge the level of community support for the project. You can pledge any amount between $500 and $50,000 and the funds raised will be used for the ongoing operations of the bank. “The Community Bank will deliver all business and financial services, providing Canowindra with a fully diversified and functioning bank which will be open 5 days a week. This not only provides Canowindra with a sustainable future, but also allows us access to services such as financial planning, business banking and loans which can be approved right here.” Chairwoman, Cheryl Newsom said. A great example of a successful Community Bank is the Boorowa Community Bank. Since 2008, the Bank has returned more than $378,000 as part of the annual grants program, and that doesn’t include sponsor-ship. This means community groups benefit directly from a Community Bank, meaning local money, local jobs and support for our community. The Canowindra Community Bank is an investment in our community, and needs as much support as possible to make it happen. For more information, please contact Cheryl Newsom on 0411 211 065 or simply drop in to Bill Paul’s Carpet Centre, Belubula Butchery or Adloyalty to pick up a pledge form and an information pack.

ANOTHER GREAT ACHIEVEMENT! Canowindra Challenge Incorporated (CCI) has just been named a finalist in the Festivals & Events category for the NSW Tourism Awards 2013 for the 18th Australian National Balloon Championships! The NSW Tourism Awards celebrate and acknowledge tourism businesses that have demonstrated outstanding achievement and success throughout the year. It is a fantastic achievement for CCI, whose event not only attracts over 11,000 people to the region each year, but also raises awareness of Canowindra and the greater Cabonne area. “This achievement adds great status and credibility to our event, and is a thank you to the people of Canowindra and their great community spirit. As this event continues to grow, we expect more people to be attracted to Canowindra, enhancing the viability of our wonderful community.” CCI Chairman, Arthur Falconer said. Planning for the 2014 event has already begun, and CCI are offering a number of sponsorship opportunities to companies wanting to increase their public exposure through association with a unique ballooning event that continues to grow each year. “The plan is to make the 2014 event bigger and better than ever before. Our dream to take The Balloon Championships to the international stage is really starting to come together.” Arthur Falconer said. For more detailed information on sponsorship opportunities for the 2014 event, please call Danni Jenkins at Adloyalty on 02 6344 1846.

PAVING THE PATH OF FITNESS Construction of the Canowindra Fitness Path commenced in June 2013 with the surfacing of the path completed in August 2013. A diverse array of local people are already enjoying it every day…walking, running, riding or skating around. So now it’s time for the Working Party to start working on developing the four exercise sites and installing the special outdoor fitness equipment. With the fantastic support of the community, the working party has already raised around $141,000 - almost 75% of the total amount required to complete the project, but they still need to raise the final 25%. Community members, businesses and sporting clubs are being offered an opportunity to sponsor the Fitness Path by buying specially made paving bricks that will be laid next to the Path in a prominent area near the amenities block for everyone to see. Single pavers are available for just $40 and there are discounts if you choose to order more than one paver. Each high quality paver is specially engraved to ensure that your valued support is clearly evident for many years to come. You may inspect a sample paver at the Canowindra Community Health Centre. Order forms are available at the Community Health Centre and Newsagency and you may find one in your mail box very soon! So “Don’t be a Witness” get your paver order in today and help support this fabulous facility for our town. If you have any questions or require any additional information please do not hesitate to contact our working party via [email protected]
