3. BUSINESS SECTION

3.1 Vision

To help people be productive with an effortless time management system.

3.2 Industry Analysis: Productivity App Industry

Industry: Productivity App Industry. This industry includes all apps that claim to help people optimise their time for example, calendar apps in

all smart phones, to do lists, Dropbox etc.

Force: High/Low: Justification:

2

Page 3: Infosys110 - d2 - Angel-2

3

Buyer power: High Buyers have high power in the productivity app

industry. There are plenty of productivity apps in

the app market. Hence buyers have a wide

variety of options to choose from. (TNW, 2013).

Supplier power: Low There are many app platforms, Interface

development softwares in New Zealand and

overseas. Hence, there are many available

suppliers. Hence the supplier power is low in the

productivity app industry. (Mashable, 2013),

Threat of new entrants: High Making a new app is easy and cheap. The barriers

to entry are quite low and there is no specific

market leader. Hence the threat to new entry is

high. (Chris, 2014)

Threat of substitutes: Low It is easy to just use planners and calendars or

just paper to make a ‘to – do’ list. However the 3

productivity app industry includes apps that

manage pictures, Emails etc. Thus making it a

hard industry to substitute. (Strategies)

Rivalry among existing

competitors:

High Because there are so many apps in the app

market there is a rivalry among existing

competitors to attract new customers and retain

existing customers. (dazoinfo, 2014).

Overall attractiveness of the industry: The productivity app industry is not very attractive. As there are many apps to choose from however

the productivity app industry cannot easily be substituted. Furthermore making a productivity app is fairly easy and cheap hence new

competitors can enter the market.

3.3 Customers and Their Needs

Tick Talk is for everyone from working mothers to Business Executives. From professors to students. The target market in this case would be

everyone who needs to manage multiple responsibilities. With a wide range of interviews and research it is clear that majority of the students

at university find it hard to balance work and play (Lucier, 2011). Business executives find it hard to keep track of various avenues and

challenges. Students often forget to hand in their assignments on time. Working mothers may find it hard to balance multiple responsibilities

(O'Donnell, 2014). Customers need regular and timely reminders of their task, this encourages and motivates them to complete their tasks.

A refined well developed product that is easy to use goes through various levels of testing. For Tick Talk to be an effortless and reliable app it

needs various levels of testing and research. However when errors are found or reported through customer feedback system the product is

immediately retested and its errors corrected. Therefore testing product efficiency is an integral business process for our business. At the

quality centre the software, interface and text to speech application of the product are tested to prevent software and interface problems. To

employ easy and cheap testing method a Product testing system is used. It first tests and corrects the software of the system and then it tests

and corrects the interface and the text – to - speech application. The collection of data to correct system errors comes under the research
