Page 3: Human Body

HEART:Pumps blood to all parts of the body.

STOMACH:Breaks down food you eat into smaller pieces.

KIDNEYS:Filters the blood and takes waste from the bloodstream.

BRAIN:Control center of the body.

LUNGS:Takes oxygen out the air and put it in the bloodstream and takes carbon dioxide out the body

LIVER:Makes bile to help your stomach break down food, store nutrients your body needs, makeantibodies to help fight disease.

Explicit Instruction (I Do )

Page 4: Human Body

Pumps and keeps blood flowing through the body

Heart

Page 5: Human Body

Brings oxygen to the blood and remove carbon dioxideLungs

Page 6: Human Body

Crushes the food and then release stomach acid to further break down food.

Stomach

Page 7: Human Body

Cleans the blood coming from the digestive organs and changes food into forms that can stored. Bile neutralizes stomach acid.

Liver

Page 8: Human Body

Releases chemicals that break down food into the small intestines and it produces insulin that is used to break down sugar.

Pancreas

Page 9: Human Body

Small Intestines - Breaks down food even more and then it absorbs all the nutrients back into the blood.Large Intestines – it absorbs water back into the blood.

Intestines

Page 10: Human Body

Filters harmful things out of your blood, regulate the amount of water in your body and then sends wastes (urine) to bladder.

Kidney

Page 11: Human Body

Storage of urine until full and then you urinate.

Bladder

Page 12: Human Body

Control center of the body that carries information back and forth between brain and organs.

Brain

Sensory Organs

Page 14: Human Body

Supports the body and gives it shape

Protects your internal organs Helps you move Makes blood cells

Bones

Page 15: Human Body

Moves your body parts Moves food through our digestive system Pumps blood through your circulatory system Makes you breathe

Muscles

Page 16: Human Body

Identify the major organsin the human body and explain function.

Cameron was completing a project on what type of sponge can absorb the most water. What part of the body is similar to his investigation?

Differentiate between the Major Organs of the Human Body (You Do)

________________I am similar to a computer main frame that controls all the systems in a building.

________________Aniya noticed a tingling in her legs. Her mom took her to the doctor and he stated she did not have enough oxygen in her blood. What organ needs repair ? Explain________________A water pump makes sure water is flowing throughout your house. What organ is similar to a water pump? Explain

I am similar to a blender. Who am I ? Explain:

Shakeatha was investigating dialysis machines. It is a machine used to filter waste out your blood. When would a person need to be on dialysis?

A recycling factory breaks down materials, stores the new material and has security to protect the factory. What organ is similar to a recycling factory? Explain

The roots of a plant anchors the plant but it also absorbs nutrients and send it to the rest of the plant for use. What organ is similar to the roots? Explain

Police officers wear special equipment to protect them in dangerous situations. What organ is similar to the gear police officers wear? Explain
