PASTOR’S CORNER

Dear Parishioners,

Come join us on Friday, March 18, 2016 for our Friday (TGIF) at Fr. Griffin Hall, 6:30 pm. Sr. Cecilia Dwyer, Benedictine Prioress from Bristow Monastery, will address how the tradition of hospitality relates to current discus-sions around immigration. Stop by the vestibule after Mass or the office dur-ing the week TO GET YOUR TICKETS FOR THE ST. JOSEPH/ST. PATRICK PARTY on Saturday evening, March 19th, 7:30 pm in Fr. Griffin Hall. This will be a great time to remem-ber the Saints and to bring our diverse commu-nity together to celebrate our various traditions, with food and song. You are also welcome to join me at St. Thomas More Cathedral, 3901 No. Cathedral Lane, Ar-lington, VA 22203, Monday, at 7:30 pm for the Annual St. Patrick's Day Gaelic Mass. Additional opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation are available on Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Also, our priests will assist with the Communal Celebration of Penance at Sacred Heart on Monday, March 21st at 6:30 pm. Our congregation is invited to join our neighbors for reconciliation (confession). With the Blessings of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Gearoid Padraig O Criodain

Stewardship Reflections

March 13, 2016

5th Sunday of Lent

“For his sake I have accepted the loss of all things

and I consider them so much rubbish,

that I may gain Christ…” (Philippians 3:8)

The first commandment says

that we shall not put other gods before the Lord.

Detaching ourselves from material possessions

and

considering them ”rubbish” does just that.

It strengthens our relationship with Jesus

and

allows us to live more freely and joyfully.

2016 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal Go forth as heralds of God’s mercy

The Bishop’s Lenten Appeal is in full swing and we are asking every household in our parish to support this appeal to the extent that they are able. The BLA funds many programs, services and ministries that serve people in need and further Jesus’ Mission in our diocese. During this Jubilee Year of Mercy, let’s join to-gether to do the Lord’s work – works that touch the lives and souls of thousands of people in our diocese. Thank you!
