    March 2013 Issue No. One

    A great need in

    South Sudan

    Issue No. Two

    ~Rich in resources~

Most people would think that having acountry rich in natural resources (fertile land, oil,

gold, silver and copper) as well as the second

anniversary of their official independence just onthe horizon, would be enough to make anyone feel

blessed and excited. However this is not the case

for the residents of South Sudan.

~A country left hurting by war~

Decades of civil war have left South Sudanseverely lacking in basic fundamentals that

countries require to survive (infrastructure and

human capital). The road conditions, basic

    ut i l i t ies , schools , medical centers , and

communication networks are either in poorcondition or non existent, making life in South

Sudan incredibly difficult and dangerous for the

    Sudanese people.

~ MAF is hard at work~ South Sudan is important to us as it is one of the places we may

have the opportunity to serve. Due to the great need there, MAF is

hard at work on the ground (and in the air!) with countless other

missionary and humanitarian groups who are all selflessly lending a

hand to help the Sudanese people who are desperately hurting. By

providing its airplanes and pilots, MAF is a vital part of the workbeing done to improve the lives of the people of South Sudan.

    ~An opportunity to serve~

We are excited to be able to be a part of the team that impactsthe lives of the people of South Sudan, not only by use of the

airplane but also by partnering and joining the local ministries that

are currently at work on the ground. There is great opportunity for the both of us to allow God to work through us and to be apart of the positive change taking place in South Sudan.

    In South Sudan, more than

of the access to any form of

    healthcare is provided by NGOs

    (Non-Governmental Agencies).

    90%The infant mortality rate is

worse than in Canada, and life

    expectancy is among the lowest

    in the world.

    18xFewer than

    children live to see their

    5th birthday.

On a personal note: We are expecting ourfirst baby due November 5th! So, not only is the

Lord preparing us for full-time ministry, but He

is also preparing us to be first time parents! We

welcome this opportunity with open arms. We are

both excited to embark on this new chapter in

our lives and feel incredibly blessed!

The need in South Sudan is great and we arevery blessed and humbled to be part of what God

is doing there, but we can not do this alone, this

ministry is truly a team effort! If you have been

planning to join our ministry, now would be a

great time to start! We need to be at 100%

funding before we can leave for the field. In order to complete our team we needpeople willing to commit to ongoing monthly,

quarterly, or annual gifts to sustain our ministrywith MAF through our time overseas or towards

our outgoing (one-time) expense. So would you

please pray and consider joining the diverse and

amazing team of people already committed to

    partner with this ministry financially!
