Updates & Reminders

- Eligible Promise Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits that are
applicable to your major to be awarded.
• Check your MyCSN Student Center daily.
- The ToDo List in your MyCSN Student Center Identifies you as a Promise Student and informs you of missing/pending items.
Fall 2020
• Begin working on your Promise Requirements to maintain eligibility.
- Eight hours of community service
- One Mentor Meeting
◦ Continue working with the mentor assigned Spring 2020.
CSN Recipient: Are You Getting Ready to Graduate?
Are you registering for your last semester at CSN and need fewer than 12 credits to graduate?
If you are a CSN student and maintained eligibility for the Nevada Promise Scholarship, you can still
receive Promise in your last semester.
• Meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss your academic plan.
• Confirm with your Advisor that the next semester will be your final semester and the number of credits remaining.
• If you need fewer than 12 credits to graduate, obtain a degree plan signed by your Academic Advisor confirming the remaining credits and expected graduation date.
• Submit form to the CSN Financial Aid Office and identify yourself as a Promise student.

Nicolas Unzueta is originally from Durango, Mexico the state of the scorpions, and has lived in Las Vegas
for 19 years. He joined the Nevada Promise team in 2019 as a Facilitator to give back to his community
and work closely with students like himself. He realized that he had an abnormal path in his education
and with resourceful mentoring was able to find what fascinated him. Nicolas is currently a junior at the
University of Nevada, Las Vegas completing his bachelor’s in Business Administration with an emphasis
in Marketing. He has recently developed an interest in market research and data analysis, finding
significant relationships to tell the story from data collected. He is open to the possibilities that come his way as a curious explorer of knowledge.
Promise Requirements
July 1, 2020 Deadline
• After completing the FAFSA and if selected for additional verification, this must be completed on or before July 1, 2020.
- Contact the CSN Financial Aid Office to determine if additional documentation is needed.
• Complete and submit eight hours of community service. Eight hours of community service
completed between January 1, 2020 and July 1, 2020 must be submitted on or before July 1, 2020.
• Complete and report one mentor meeting in spring 2020. Complete one mentor meeting
between January 1, 2020 and July 1, 2020 and submit the mentor meeting form on or
before July 1, 2020.
Community Service
We have a list of organizations that offer virtual and in-person community service opportunities. If you are interested in volunteering with one of the organizations please reach out to them directly.

• If you were added to a wait list with a non-profit organization, please continue to look for other opportunities to help you complete the requirement.
• Document all your attempts to complete the requirement even i f it was unsuccessful.
• Students are given the opportunity to appeal an adverse eligibility decision and will be required
to provide back-up documentation demonstrating your due diligence and attempts to complete this requirement.
