The present-day BSCS (ST/MP/PX) online configuration modules does not meet the needs of telephony operators which demand several reports, inclusions and massive alterations plus the necessity for configuration speed for new products.

Routine activities such as simple searches/queries (ST/MP/PX do not issue reports), price increases, alterations and configurations of new plans, services and zones, alterations in Free Units packages or even more complex activities such as massive alterations of services and prices are not feasible to configure through BSCS’s tool.

This brings about a great dependence on the IT area, demanding several hours of configuration and forcing the company to keep a team of business configuration professionals to look after its daily activities which could be automatized with all the needed validations.

This has an impact on the following:

• The hiring of business configurations professionals who are expensive and scarce on the market, besides creating a dependence on these professional for complex demands.

• The application of scripts on the databases which often result in errors as the scripts do not carry out the necessary validations and are not standardized.

• An increase in the time needed for new promotions, new configurations and for massive alterations such as, for instance, an increase in prices.

In order to solve this and other problems, a product that is able to make configurations in BSCS for the Tariffing, Invoicing and Accounting modules in a simple, practical and automatized way has been built. It is fast, has a Web interface and supplies several reports that meet both customers’ and SOX’s (Sarbanes Oxley Act) demands.

• Automatization of the tariff increase system, subscription and adhesion to the system, having several massive alteration mechanisms including the use of electronic flowcharts (EXCEL) and the duplication of tariff configurations.

• Easy and fast mass alterations in the configurations of Plans, Zones, EGL packages and Free Units packages.

• The possibility of working on a database for development, testing and production as all alterations have an automatic generation of SQL commands. In this case, it is possible to use the tool in the Test database and then apply the generated and already tested scripts to the production bases.

It is easy and fast to configure, from the inclusion of one or various zones to the creation of a complete tariff plan through the automatization of tasks and the possibility to copy several elements, thus considerably reducing the time to marketing.

The entire configuration of a single zone including accounting, time package, prices and inclusion in Free Units through MP may take up to a whole day. By using this tool, this procedure takes less than 10 minutes including all the validations (inclusive reports) and may be done for one or several zones.

The system allows for the creation of a zone and for the insertion into several packages/packets having a zone as a parameter or allows for the replica of a one-packet zone into other packets. All of these actions have the generation of SQL commands so that it is possible to apply this alteration in other databases.

There is the possibility of replicating the accounts in several zones or in a specific set of zones. It is therefore possible to configure a single account and all the zones that have the same account will be updated automatically.

There is the possibility to make massive price alterations. This means that it is possible to alter at one time all the zones that have the same price as the parameter zone in distinct plans and packages.

The system charges the flowchart with the up-to-date price and then makes the upload with the altered price. The price alteration process in the operators, which may take days, starts being made by the user himself/herself in a fast and safe way, with the possibility of evaluating the result by means of online reports.
