1 Disability Awareness Week 2017 Grant guidelines Introduction The Department of Communities, Disability Services (Communities) is offering seed grants to support organisations and groups to hold inclusive community events or activities during Disability Awareness Week from 3 to 9 December 2017. Events and activities should celebrate people with disability and raise awareness of the importance of welcoming, accessible and inclusive communities. Disability Awareness Week 2017Grant guidelines

Introduction

The Department of Communities, Disability Services (Communities) is offering seed grants to support organisations and groups to hold inclusive community events or activities during Disability Awareness Week from 3 to 9 December 2017.

Events and activities should celebrate people with disability and raise awareness of the importance of welcoming, accessible and inclusive communities.

Grant amount

Funding of up to $1000 is available for organisations to deliver a range of community events or activities, including: disability festivals, sporting events, disability forums, workshops, seminars, award ceremonies; and art, music, dance and other cultural events.

Incorporated, not-for-profit, non-government organisations Local government authorities Un-incorporated organisations or community groups, applying through the auspice of an

incorporated body or a local government authority.

Federal or state agencies Individuals Commercial for-profit organisations Unincorporated not-for-profit community sector organisations (unless applying through an

incorporated body or a local government authority) Organisations located in the Indian Ocean Territories and outside Western Australia.

Eligibility criteria

Grant applicants must demonstrate that the event will:

Be held during Disability Awareness Week (3-9 December 2017) Celebrate people with disability and raise awareness of the importance of access and

inclusion across the community Be inclusive and accessible Be open to the community.

Note: To guarantee that your application can proceed to the assessment phase, please ensure that you have addressed each of the above mentioned eligibility criteria in the Grant Application Form. Applications that have not addressed or provided all of the above mentioned points will not be assessed.

Terms and conditions

Successful grant applicants must agree and abide by the following terms and conditions. The event venue must be accessible to people of all abilities. (For tips and guidelines on

how to hold an accessible event, visit www.disability.wa.gov.au > About disability > Accessibility > Services, events and public consultation).

The event information will be published on Communities digital channels. Grant recipients will be required to supply high-resolution photos of the event with signed

consent forms of participants for use in Communities publications. Grant applicants must have appropriate insurances (public liability etc.). Grant recipients must be able to provide Communities with the information or evidence

needed to prove how the grant criteria and terms and conditions were met. Grant recipients must return the grant money back to Communities if the event does not

take place.

Assessment and notificationAll sections must be adequately completed on the Grant Application Form so that the Disability Awareness Week Grants Panel can assess your application against the selection criteria.

All applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application by Monday 6 November 2017. It is important to note that not every application that meets the criteria will necessarily receive a grant.

How to apply

Complete the Grant Application Form and return it to Communities by no later than 5.00pm Wednesday 1 November 2017 and can be submitted the following ways.

Please note: applications postmarked prior to, or on the closing date, but received after that date, will not be accepted. We encourage you to email your application to ensure it arrives by the closing time and date.

Successful applicantsImage and promotional consent

All successful grant applicants will be required to take high-resolution photos of the events and submit them to Communities for use in publications such as e-newsletters, websites, social media, brochures, fact sheets and the annual report. Signed consent from all photo subjects must also be submitted to Communities. A photo permission form template will be provided.

Information about events will also be posted on the Communities websites, e-newsletters and social media platforms and further promoted via media releases.
