Parish Registraon The Parish Registraon forms are located in the office. Please complete the form and return at the desk. Welcome new Parishioners! Fear is useless. What is needed is trust.” Does this strike you as good news? Our lives often run on fear. Our society employs fear to keep its constituents in line. It believes that fear of the death penalty will stop people from killing and committing crimes. Yet in truth it does not act as a deterrent at all. In fact the use of violence by society causes an increase of violence among its members. Fear does not work. Do we dare go so far as Jesus and say that it is useless? Is there another path besides the way of fear? Is there another course of raising children besides the threat of punishment should they not behave? Is there another route toward creating a world of peace other than the escalation of weapons of mass destruction? Christians are called to live another way. We are enjoined to live in trust, in faith. Today’s gospel demonstrates how the way of trust leads to life. The woman is not healed by Jesus. She trusts in his ability and the healing power flows out of him and into her. Similarly Jesus exhorts the little girl’s relatives to trust in him rather than to fear that it is too late. Then out of death Jesus calls her to life. How do our own lives reveal our trust in God? Do we always presume that the worst will happen? Do we despair that things will never get better? Or do we exhibit trust in God? Do we seek to follow God’s will for us in confidence that it will lead us to real happiness? Paul suggests we are rich. How are we rich? We are rich through the favor shown us by Jesus Christ, who made himself poor so that we might share in the riches of his resurrection. The abundance should persuade us to act generously toward others. We can afford to share our wealth so that all may experience equally the generosity of God’s creation. We can afford to be rich in charity because we need not fear we will be left with nothing. So we can look upon others with the compassionate gaze of Jesus and make it possible for them also to share in the wealth of God’s goodness. Fear is useless. What is needed is trust.” Does this
strike you as good news? Our lives often run on
fear. Our society employs fear to keep its
constituents in line. It believes that fear of the death
penalty will stop people from killing and committing
crimes. Yet in truth it does not act as a deterrent at
all. In fact the use of violence by society causes an
increase of violence among its members. Fear does
not work. Do we dare go so far as Jesus and say that
it is useless?
Is there another path besides the way of fear? Is
there another course of raising children besides the
threat of punishment should they not behave? Is
there another route toward creating a world of peace
other than the escalation of weapons of mass
destruction?
Christians are called to live another way. We are
enjoined to live in trust, in faith. Today’s gospel
demonstrates how the way of trust leads to life. The
woman is not healed by Jesus. She trusts in his
ability and the healing power flows out of him and
into her. Similarly Jesus exhorts the little girl’s
relatives to trust in him rather than to fear that it is
too late. Then out of death Jesus calls her to life.
How do our own lives reveal our trust in God? Do we
always presume that the worst will happen? Do we
despair that things will never get better? Or do we
exhibit trust in God? Do we seek to follow God’s will
for us in confidence that it will lead us to real
happiness?
Paul suggests we are rich. How are we rich? We are
rich through the favor shown us by Jesus Christ, who
made himself poor so that we might share in the
riches of his resurrection.
The abundance should persuade us to act generously
toward others. We can afford to share our wealth so

nothing. So we can look upon others with the

”. ¿Le parece una buena noticia? Nuestras vidas a
menudo se basan en el miedo. Nuestra sociedad
miedo no funciona.
Dios.
