LOOK HOW CUTE HE IS…

But thanks to people like Nikki and Chelsea, his days of frolicking on the snow covered terrain are numbered.

By man constantly burning off excessive amounts of fossil fuels, and releasing hazardous toxins into the very air which we breathe. The Earth’s temperature is heating up, causing glaciers and mountain snows to rapidly melt. Which is causing devastating changes in the lives of Earth’s residents.

Page 5: Global Warming

We believe that Global Warming is a natural occurrence. It has been a slow moving process since the beginning of time. But ever since the Industrial Revolution, man has greatly accelerated the rate of Ozone depletion.

Our Position

Page 6: Global Warming

Despite what our opponents might say, man has played a large role assisting in the depletion of the Ozone layer.

Overview

Page 7: Global Warming

Scientists learned that there are several greenhouse gases responsible for warming, and humans emit them in a variety of ways every day.

Most come from the combustion of fossil fuels in cars, factories and electricity production. The gas responsible for the most warming is carbon dioxide. Other contributors include methane released from landfills and agriculture, nitrous oxide from fertilizers, gases used for refrigeration, and the loss of forests that would otherwise store CO2.

Causes

Page 8: Global Warming

Currently man is assisting in the rapid rise of sea levels, the raised temperature is causing ice caps to melt, therefore raising water levels. There are 5,773,000 cubic miles of water in ice caps, glaciers, and permanent snow. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, if all glaciers melted today the seas would rise about 230 feet.

Although some areas of Earth will become wetter due to global warming, other areas will suffer serious droughts and heat waves. Africa will receive the worst of it, with more severe droughts also expected in Europe. Water is already a dangerously rare commodity in Africa, and according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, global warming will exacerbate the conditions and could lead to conflicts and war.

According to NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit around the world since 1880, much of this in recent decades.

Scientific Proof #1

Page 13: Global Warming

The Arctic is feeling the effects the most. Since 1815 average temperatures in Alaska, western Canada, and eastern Russia have risen at twice the global average, according to the multinational Arctic Climate Impact Assessment report compiled between 2000 and 2004.

Scientific Proof #2

Scientific Proof #3Glaciers and mountain

snows are rapidly melting—for example, Montana’s Glacier National Park now has only 27 glaciers, versus 150 in 1910. In the Northern Hemisphere, thaws also come a week earlier in spring and freezes begin a week later.

Responses to Man Caused Global WarmingCar companies are creating more

environmental friendly vehicles.EPA is passing more laws preventing

factories from releasing dangerous toxins into the air which deplete the Ozone.

Companies are producing more environmentally friendly products that conserve power.

Small Price to Pay for LifeAlthough all of this technology may cost

more, and may not be ideal for our current economic status, it would be less expensive than dealing with the problems that will occur down the road. Not taking actions now would be irresponsible and a demonstration of laziness by man kind.
