Dear parents

The Parent Portal Online – This is a part of the LMBR system that will soon be available to us. Essentially it will allow parents to make MAJOR payments (eg annual camps, excursions). Payments for smaller items (eg weekly PSSA fees, charity donations) will still go through the same process of being paid through the front office. At this time, we will need to have all our School Admin staff fully trained in the system. This could take some time and may mean an extra work situation for the staff that they will need to timetable and undertake on a gradual basis.

Importantly for parents, all payments will need to be made by a certain time, after that it may not be possible to make either an online or cash/cheque payment through the office (we are still unclear on these processes).

Most importantly, we need parents to ensure they are aware of activities that affect their child, when they can make payments and when they are having financial difficulties, for them to contact the school.

Any school system – payments included – should assist the school to do its job better and most importantly, no matter what system is in action we need to put things in place to ensure that no student is ever disadvantaged by missing out on any activity.

Annual Athletics Carnival. Thank you to those parents who took the time to respond to our survey re the Annual Athletics Carnival. Of the 6 responses received:

• 1 only preferred BOP – reason the line markings were clearer • Things that people said went well included:

o Was good viewing for parents being closer o Carnival was well organised o Plenty of parking was available o Children had a good time o Good that there was a playground for pre-schoolers

• Suggestions for improvements included: o Shade for students (3 of 6 responses requested this) o Have the students more active whilst waiting (1) o If there were more toilets available we need to make them accessible o A parent race for interested parents o Limit number of races for students as some parents were worried seeing their children running so

much.

As soon as the staff responses and student responses are gathered, we will present the findings from those surveys and then the recommendations for 2017 will be presented.

Peer Support Update Week 6 – Making Choices During Peer Support next week, the children will be discussing and developing ways to be responsible. The activities will reinforce the concept that being responsible is doing what we say we will do and to the best of our ability. Next week help develop with your child 2-3 things they can do around the home to show they are responsible i.e. feed the dog each night, set the table at 6.30pm each day. REMINDERS

PAYMENTS When sending payments to school please ensure the CORRECT AMOUNT of money is enclosed in a separate envelope for each activity. PLEASE PUT ONLY ONE ACTIVITY IN EACH ENVELOPE. (If more than one activity is placed in an envelope your child may miss out on participating). Clearly mark each envelope with:

• your child’s name • your child’s class • name of activity

and please put the permission note inside the envelope. A separate permission note is required for each child in the family. Please do not fold or staple banknotes. Please make payments before the due date as paying late will result in your child missing an activity. All money is to be deposited in the payment slot in the door at the Admin Office. Parents are asked to supply their own envelopes. MESSAGES REGARDING LATE COLLECTION OF STUDENT Please phone before 2.30pm with any messages if you will be late picking up your child. SCHOOL CANTEEN The canteen operates on Monday to Friday each week. Any payments or orders for the canteen should be taken directly to the canteen. LUNCHES If parents need to bring lunches to school after 9.00am, we would ask that you wait until 11.15am, when you will be able to gain a pass to your child’s class and then be able to take the lunch to your child. EARLY LEAVERS When signing children out early of an afternoon, for appointments etc, parents are asked to do so before 2.45pm. Students will not be signed out after this time. UNIFORM SHOP HOURS Mondays: 8.30am to 9.00am Fridays: 8.30am to 9.30am SCHOOL CAR PARK Parents are reminded that the school car park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Parents are asked not to drop children off in the car park, park in or walk through the car park. There is a gate near the administration office for pedestrian access.
