Dear parents, Welcome to the last newsletter for 2015. 2015 has been a very busy year. Congratulations go to all students for their superb efforts throughout the year and especially to all of those students who have won awards either during the year or who will receive one on Presentation Day. Thank you to Miss Howard for her organisation of the Community Helper Morning Tea last Monday – it was great to see so many of our parent and community helpers in attendance and I would like to thank them for their efforts throughout the year. Increasing community involvement is one of our goals for 2016. Thank you also to our dedicated P&C for their efforts throughout the year, both in fundraising and ensuring their support of the students through their organisation of Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day stalls and the uniform shop. Their efforts are greatly appreciated. Successful schools, like GPS, are a result of successful teachers and School Learning Support Officers. On behalf of all students and the school community I would like to praise and thank all of our staff for their commitment to the students and to their profession throughout 2015. As happens every year, we will be losing some great teachers this year and will be welcoming new ones at the same time. Congratulations to Miss Bedwell, Miss Gorman and Miss Stuyck all of whom have gained positions at new schools and we wish them all the best in their future careers. Thank you also to Ms Porter who has been relieving in the Teacher-Librarian position for a number of years – we wish her well in her future endeavours. We also welcome new teachers to our school that will include Mr Craig Bamford and Mrs Michelle Sciberras (Class Teachers) and Ms Serena Bourke (Teacher-Librarian). I would also like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our administration staff, Ms Warrington, Mrs Stevens, Ms Campbell and Ms Winter. Without their assistance, many of the operations of our school would not occur, and I would like to thank them for all they do to assist the staff, students and wider community on a daily basis. We are looking forward to seeing as many parents as possible at our Presentation Day assemblies on Monday December 14 - K-2 9.15am and 3-6 - 10.00am and at the Year 6 Farewell Arch at approximately 2.30pm on Wednesday December 16. Just a reminder that Wednesday December 16 is the last day for students – December 17 & 18 are School Development Days and we thank parents for making alternative arrangements for their children on these days. The first day back for students in Years 1-6 in 2016 is Thursday January 28. Wednesday January 27 is also a School Development Day. Parents are welcome to join us from 9.00am-2.00pm and December 17, from 9.00am-3.00pm on December 18 and from 9.00-10.00 on January 27– more information is included in this newsletter.
