Top Story - The Robert Morris University football team opens its 2013 home slate this Saturday, Sept. 7, at Noon as the Colonials welcome Morgan State to Joe Walton Stadium in a non-confer- ence matchup. The Colonials are coming off of a season-opening setback to nationally ranked Eastern Kentucky, one of the top programs at the NCAA’s FCS level year after year. Morgan State also played a tough foe a week ago as it met FBS member Army. Redshirt senior linebacker Mike Cook posted a game-high 10 tackles in the season opener. Paul Jones started at quarterback in his RMU debut and completed 16-of-28 (57%) passes. The Sto-Rox product is set to make his western Pennsylvania collegiate debut Saturday. Jones tossed a touchdown pass to true fresh- man Alex Caratelli in the opener as the rookie found the end zone in his first career action. Robert Morris is 13-6 (.684) all-time in home openers and is 2-0 all-time on September 7. RMU will remain at home next week as it will host long-time nemesis Dayton Sept. 14 at Noon before enjoying a bye week on the fourth week of the season. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - Robert Morris is set to play in Joe Walton Stadium for the first time this season Saturday, and the Colonials enter the game with an all-time mark of 13-6 (.684) in home openers. This is the 12th season in RMU history in which the team has opened the season on the road; in the 11 previous such years, RMU sported a record of 7-4 (.636) when playing at home for the first time. RMU has played 11 different programs in its home opener entering 2013, and it has defeated nine of these opponents at least once in a home opener. Top performances by RMU in home openers: most points - 49 (vs. Butler - 9/17/05); fewest points allowed - 0 (vs. Butler - 9/14/96); most rushing yards – 282 (9/14/96 vs. Butler); most passing yards - 298 (9/10/94 vs. Monmouth); most total yards of offense - 466 (9/14/96 vs. Butler); fewest yards allowed - 113 (9/27/03 vs. Saint Francis) Saturday's Opponent - Robert Morris and Morgan State will meet for just the second time Saturday, with the Bears having claimed a narrow 13-12 victory in the inaugural meeting between the two programs at Hughes Stadium in 2011 (9/17). RMU trailed, 13-6, late in the fourth quarter but scored a touchdown with fewer than two minutes remaining. However, the Colonials’ extra point attempt was no good. Each team scored just one touchdown in the contest as the two squads combined for just 462 total yards. For more information on the all-time series against Morgan State, including the last game recap, please see page four of today’s game notes. On This Date (Sept. 7) in Robert Morris Football History - The last time Robert Morris played September 7 came 11 years ago as part of the 2002 season opener. RMU opened that campaign at home against Buffalo State and romped to an early-season victory. On a warm, sunny day the Colonials and Bengals played an ugly first half, featuring three turnovers and two missed field goals, which saw just 13 points scored. Holding a slim, 7-6, edge at the break, the Colonials burst out in a big way in the second half, scoring 34 points after intermission, including 27 straight to start the half. The breakout in scoring was not due to the offense, but rather the defense and special teams. Rupert Rickards (2002-05) blocked a punt, and Josh Weight (2001-03) returned it 20 yards for a score. Then Corey Oaks (2001-02) took over. He intercepted passes on consecu- tive Bengal drives and returned both to the end zone, notching a school-record 99 combined return yards in the process. He helped put the game away as RMU then cruised to a 41-12 victory. Head Coach Joe Walton20th Season - Pittsburgh ’57

At the forefront of the football renaissance at Robert Morris University throughout its 20-year history is Joe Walton, who has built the Colonials from a fledgling program into one of the top Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams in the region. The one constant associated with the program, Walton was named the first head coach July 27, 1993. He started the program from scratch, completing every-thing from hiring assistant coaches to purchasing equipment to recruiting student-athletes for the team’s inaugural season in 1994. Walton’s fingerprints are all over the football pro-gram, and to prove that, RMU has played its home games since 2005 in a stadium that bears his name. During his tenure, Walton has led Robert Morris to the

first Northeast Conference championship in 1996, guided RMU to a perfect 10-0 season in 2000 and in 2010 helped lead the Colonials to the NEC’s inaugural bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs with their league-high sixth regular-season championship. “It’s hard to believe,” Walton speaks on how fast time has elapsed. “I’ve said this many times before, and I mean it when I say that this situation is one of the best things that has ever happened to me in my life. It happened at the right time. Before this position became available, I felt I was too young to quit coaching, but I wasn’t anxious to get back into pro football. When this came along, it was the per-fect fit. This situation was the perfect opportunity for me to continue to do what I like to do, and I’ve loved every minute of it.” Under Walton’s tutelage, the Colonials have claimed outright NEC regular-season titles three times (1997, 1999, 2000) while sharing three others (1996, 1998, 2010). Walton led Robert Morris to back-to-back ECAC Bowl victories in 1996 and 1997, and in 1999 and 2000 he guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns according to Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette. In 2010, Walton added to his legacy by engineering the Colonials on an eight-game winning streak for a share of the NEC regular-season title and the NEC’s first bid in the NCAA FCS Playoffs. In the process he picked up his 100th career victory in the collegiate ranks.

Game #3Morgan State 13, Robert Morris 12September 17, 2011 / Baltimore, Md.

Hughes Stadium (Attendance: 4,782) - Robert Morris suffered its third straight loss to open 2011, dropping a 13-12 decision to Morgan State to close out its non-conference schedule. Trailing, 13-6, with 5:03 to play, junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair moved the Colonials 60 yards on eight plays and connected with junior wide receiver Rickeem Jackson for a seven-yard touch-down pass with just 1:57 remaining to pull Robert Morris within a point. However, RMU failed to send the game to overtime when the point after attempt was wide left. The Robert Morris defense, which yielded just 208 yards of total offense to Morgan State on the afternoon, held the Bears to a three-and-out on their next possession but was unable to stop the clock due to just one remaining timeout. The Colonials did get the ball back with 10 seconds left in regulation but were unable to move the ball into scoring position. Deadlocked, 3-3, entering the second half, the Colonials inched ahead on their first posses-sion after intermission, 6-3, when Greg Langer hit his second field goal of the afternoon, this one from 41 yards out, to cap a seven-play, 41-yard drive. Morgan State finally put the first touchdown of the game on the board on its next possession to take a 10-6 advantage when Robert Council found Tyrone Hendrix down the sideline for a 56-yard touchdown pass, just the second passing attempt of the game for the Bears. The lead grew to 13-6 in favor of MSU at the 10:56 mark of the fourth quarter when Abraham Mercado converted a 23-yard field goal to cap a 10-play, 39-yard drive. Defense dominated the affair, as combined the two programs finished with 10 sacks and 22 tackles for losses that totaled 106 yards. Penalties also hurt the cause of both teams, with RMU suffering seven penalties for 60 while Morgan State was whistled for 11 infractions for 139 yards. Robert Morris took an early 3-0 lead on its first possession of the game when Langer con-verted a 37-yard field goal with 7:09 remaining in the first quarter. The Colonials looked as if they were going to extend their lead early in the second quarter, driving to the two-yard of the Bears before Sinclair's lob pass to Jackson was intercepted by Morgan State's Reshaude Miller. The Bears were able to knot the game, 3-3, at halftime when Mercado booted a 40-yard field goal with just 26 seconds left in the first half. The score came off a Sinclair interception, as Cody Acker came up with the pick at the RMU 27-yard line with just 1:12 to go before the break. Sinclair completed 15 of his 29 passing attempts for 166 yards and a touchdown, while Justin Brooks paced the ground game with 68 yards rushing on 16 attempts. Defensively a trio of Colonials finished with a career-high 11 tackles to tie for game-high honors, including junior defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof and junior linebackers Kyle Cooper and Andrew Douglass. Nearhoof recorded two and-a-half of RMU's six sacks on the afternoon and of his 11 tackles, six were for losses that totaled 20 yards. Junior defensive lineman Sam Miller added three tackles, including one and-a-half sacks.

Robert Morris Quick FactsLast Time Out - Robert Morris opened its season against one of the most storied pro-grams in the NCAA’s FCS level as Eastern Kentucky has won two national titles and made 20 playoff appearances … Senior Samuel Collins contributed a career-best eight tackles, including a tackle for loss … Senior Matthew Fox added his first-ever forced fumble with a vicious hit on kickoff coverage … A.J. Holderman and Adrian Perez teamed up on a sack to turn the ball over on downs … RMU played on a Thursday for the first time in school history … It was also the program’s first-ever game in August … Robert Morris fell to 19-12-1 (.609) when playing an opponent for the first time.

Full of Firsts - True freshman wide receiver Alex Caratelli had a dream start to his col-legiate career. In the season opener, Caratelli was inserted onto the field for the first time on a third-and-10 play in the second quarter. On that very play, he proceeded to catch a pass streaking across the middle of the field and sprinted into the end zone, recording his first-career reception and first-ever touchdown with a 20-yard catch.

First Season, First Start - By starting last week, Paul Jones became just the second Colonial in program history to start a season opener at quarterback in his first season on the roster. Jones completed 16 passes in his debut for 177 yards and a touchdown. Each of the eight most recent quarterbacks before Jones to start an opener for RMU had all been on the roster for at least one season prior to their start.

Everything But a W - In the only prior meeting between the Colonials and the Bears, Robert Morris had advantages in a variety of statistical categories. In addition to hav-ing a second-half lead, RMU had advantages in first downs, total yards of offense, aver-age gain per play, time of possession, third down conversion percentage, fourth down conversions and sacks all while having fewer penalties and penalty yards. Somehow, though, the Colonials still fell short, falling 13-12.

Cookie Monster - Redshirt senior Mike Cook tallied a game-high 10 tackles in the sea-son opener at No. 19 Eastern Kentucky. In doing so, Cook notched his sixth career con-test with double-figure stops, the most among all active Colonials. Cook now has dou-ble-digit tackles in back-to-back games for the second time in his career and has pulled the trick five times in his last 10 games. He owns 123 career tackles.

Offense Beware - Cornerback Marcelis Branch displayed a penchant for making big plays in his true freshman season in 2012. He forced five turnovers – interceptions and forced fumbles combined – a figure which led the NEC in regular season action despite the fact that he started only nine of the team’s 11 games. He was subsequently named to the College Sports Journal FCS All-Freshmen Team. Branch enters Saturday's contest having forced a turnover in four of the past eight games in which he has played.

Comeback Kids - Robert Morris made a habit of coming from behind late to win games during the second half of the 2012 season. In fact, RMU won three games in which it trailed at some point during the fourth quarter a year ago, marking the second time in program history that the Colonials achieved such a feat. The other such instance was during the 2000 season, and, in both cases, the three comeback wins came within a four-week span and one of the wins occurred at Sacred Heart. The 2012 stretch fea-tured wins over Central Connecticut State (37-31, after trailing 23-31), Duquesne (17-13, after trailing 10-13) and Sacred Heart (21-17, after trailing 6-17).

Experience Counts - When taking a look down the Robert Morris roster, the Colonials seem to have a bevy of experience at the offensive line position. RMU returns six play-ers that started on the O-line a season ago. The five projected starters for Saturday's game have combined for 73 starts in their careers. Three of those five – A.J. Dalton, Jon Hill and Vince Mongelluzzo – have shown their versatility by starting at multiple posi-tions during their time at RMU.

Start Me Up - Tony LaMancusa and D.J. Myers enter Saturday's game with the most consecutive starting assignments of all active Colonials. LaMancusa has served as the punter for 23 straight games while Myers has started each of the past 23 contests at safety. A.J. Dalton is the Colonials’ active leader in overall starts with 27.

Game #1 • No. 19 Eastern Kentucky 38, Robert Morris 6August 29, 2013 • Richmond, Ky.

Roy Kidd Stadium (Attendance: 12,200) - No. 19 Eastern Kentucky came out on top of Robert Morris, 38-6, in non-conference action at a muggy Roy Kidd Stadium in each team’s 2013 opener. True freshman Alex Caratelli had one of the highlights for the Colonials as the rookie caught a touchdown in his collegiate debut. Redshirt senior Mike Cook tallied a game-high 10 tackles. It was his sixth career contest with double-figure stops. Senior Samuel Collins contributed a career-best eight tackles, including a tackle for loss. After RMU was forced to punt on its first possession, EKU would open the scoring with a 56-yard drive, which was keyed in large part by a trick, third-down play in which the Colonels passed the ball to their primary quarterback. Another Colonial punt and a penalty gave the Colonels golden field position, and they promptly took advantage, scoring on a one-yard rush to double their lead. EKU looked to add to its lead early in the second quarter, but the RMU defense came up with a big fourth-down stop to turn the ball over on downs as A.J. Holderman and Adrian Perez combined on a sack. Robert Morris moved into the EKU red zone on its next posses-sion, but the drive would stall, and RMU’s subsequent field goal was blocked. Eastern Kentucky used the specials teams stop to regain momentum and drove 76 yards to find paydirt once again. Robert Morris would respond by driving 75 yards on 12 plays to get back into the game. Facing a fourth down at the EKU 36-yard line, Paul Jones found wide receiver Donte Jeter for a 16-yard gain and a conversion. Two plays later, RMU would face a third-and-10, prompt-ing the Colonials to bring Caratelli onto the field for the first time. On his first snap of collegiate action, Caratelli caught a pass in stride cutting across the middle and would break into the end zone before anyone could take him down, recording not only his first recep-tion but also his first touchdown on the play. The play also marked Jones’ first TD pass in a Colonial uniform. The Colonels would get the ball back with under two minutes left but were not content to run out the clock. Eastern Kentucky kept the pressure on and drove into the red zone. On third down, EKU would break into the end zone with a rush with just two seconds to play, scor-ing a backbreaking touchdown and setting the halftime score at 28-6. RMU forced the Colonels into three-and-outs on each of their first two possessions of the second half but could not take advantage as it was unable to turn the stops into points on the other end. The hosts put the game away by scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Last RMU GameThe New Guy - In catching a 20-yard touchdown pass last week at No. 19 Eastern Kentucky, wideout Alex Caratelli found the end zone as a true fresh-man in the season opener. In doing so, he became the first Colonial true fresh-man, at any position, to score a touchdown in a season opener since Mario Hines (2004, 2006-07) caught an 80-yard touchdown pass in the 2004 sea-son opener. In fact, Caratelli and Hines are the only two Colonials in history to catch a touchdown pass as a true freshman in a season opener.

Receiving Tandem - Donte Jeter and Duane Mitchell led the RMU receiving corps in the 2013 season opener as each tallied five catches. That mark helped Mitchell tie his career high for receptions, which he previously reached dur-ing the 2012 season finale against Monmouth. It was Jeter’s 11th consecutive game with a reception and seventh straight game with at least three catches.

Convert and Continue - RMU converted two fourth-down attempts in their 2013 season opener at No. 19 Eastern Kentucky, carrying over a trend from the end of the 2012 season. It marked the sixth consecutive game that RMU had converted at least one fourth down, the longest such stretch for the pro-gram since a nine-game streak across the 2003-04 seasons. In fact, in five of the past six contests, the Colonials converted two fourth-down tries as RMU has gone 11-for-13 (.846) overall on fourth-down tries during this sextet of games. It should be noted that the aforementioned nine-game stretch began in very similar fashion to the current one as RMU started that run by convert-ing a fourth down in the final five games of the 2003 season.

Top 25 Foes - Robert Morris’ season-opening opponent, Eastern Kentucky, checked in at No. 19 in the preseason FCS Coaches’ Poll. After playing just one game against a nationally ranked team in its first 16 seasons of existence, that contest against the Colonels was Robert Morris' fifth game against a nationally ranked squad since the beginning of the 2010 season. It also marked the second straight year that RMU has opened a campaign on the road against a nationally ranked opponent.

Preseason All-NEC - RMU was well represented from an individual perspec-tive in preseason All-Northeast Conference (NEC) voting as five Colonials garnered preseason All-NEC nods, tying for the most in the league this year with Wagner. Sophomore cornerback Marcelis Branch, redshirt senior line-backer Mike Cook, senior offensive lineman A.J. Dalton, junior punter Tony LaMancusa and redshirt senior defensive lineman Farren Mason all were named to the NEC’s 25-member preseason squad. RMU’s three selections on the defensive side of the ball on the preseason team also tied for the league high this year.

Any Given Saturday - Entering Saturday's contest against Morgan State, senior safety D.J. Myers should have pretty good odds of seeing the field, judg-ing solely by his past history. Myers has appeared in 34 games in his RMU career, playing in every game since the beginning of the 2010 season. He is the only active Colonial to own this distinction. Redshirt senior R.J. Cook cur-rently tops the squad as he has played in 36 games in his career.

Fresh Faces - As with any other year, the 2013 season opener featured the first collegiate appearances for some newer Colonials. A total of five Colonials made their first career start at No. 19 Eastern Kentucky, including three on defense. In addition to quarterback Paul Jones, defensive lineman Forrest Mason, linebacker Kimani Smith and safety Sam Collins all received their first-ever starts along with kicker Connor Shennan. In fact, Jones was one of 14 Colonials to make their first appearance in a RMU uniform against the Colonels. As it turns out, a quintet of Colonials also earned their first-ever start in the 2012 season opener at No. 2 North Dakota State. In all, 15 Colonials would start for the first time during the course of the 2012 season.

Hall of Famer - The 23rd annual class of inductees into the Robert Morris University Athletic Hall of Fame features just one individual, as head football coach Joe Walton will comprise the Class of 2013. The only head coach the program has ever known, the 2013 campaign is Walton’s 20th on the sidelines at RMU. At the conclusion of the sea-son, Walton will step down as head coach and serve as special assistant to the athletic director at Robert Morris. Walton becomes just the second inductee ever to be active at Robert Morris at the time of enshrinement, joining 2012 RMU Athletic Hall of Fame honoree Chris Shovlin, RMU’s radio play-by-play announcer. Walton will be inducted Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, with the inaugural RMU Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner, which will take place at the Marriott Pittsburgh Airport. The emcee of the event will be former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann.

Making the Grade - Senior linebacker Brad Banas (2009-12) and senior defensive line-man Nolan Nearhoof (2009-12) each earned a highly prestigious award last December as both garnered Capital One Academic All-America honors. Nearhoof, a biology major, claimed his third-consecutive Academic All-America honor, but his first of the First Team variety, while Banas, an engineering major, claimed a spot on the Second Team. The Division I Academic All-America football teams encompass student-athletes from both the NCAA’s FBS and FCS levels; however, Robert Morris was the only FCS institu-tion to have more than one football Academic All-American in 2012. Banas, who gradu-ated with a 3.96 GPA, and Nearhoof, who graduated with a 3.75 GPA, became the first-ever pair of Colonial teammates from any RMU sport to both claim Academic All-America honors in the same year. Nearhoof’s third such honor really moved him into elite company as he became the first football student-athlete from any NEC school, including past football-playing members, to earn three Academic All-America honors in a career. He finished his career as the school leader in career sacks with 26.5.

Mighty Marcelis - Sophomore cornerback Marcelis Branch made a splash in his debut season with RMU as he was tabbed the NEC Defensive Rookie of the Year as well as All-NEC Second Team. He was the only freshman to earn All-NEC honors in 2012 and became the first true freshman to claim an All-NEC award at any position since 2009. Branch played in 10 games and forced five turnovers in that time (three interceptions, two forced fumbles), leading the league in that category during regular season play. He also added 58 tackles on the year, including a team-high 35 solo stops, and added six pass breakups. He claimed three weekly awards from the NEC and tallied 15 tackles in a Homecoming victory over Lafayette, the most by a RMU freshman in a game since 2002. In addition, he helped force a pair of turnovers in the victory over the Leopards, both of which led to Colonial touchdowns.

Regulation Only - Entering Saturday's game against Morgan State, Robert Morris will have gone 70 consecutive games without having a contest go into overtime. That is the longest such streak in program history. In fact, every other current member of the NEC has played at least one overtime game since RMU’s last such contest, and four of the Colonials' conference foes have played more than one OT game in this time span. The last time the Colonials headed to overtime was Oct. 14, 2006 when RMU upset No. 19 Central Connecticut State, 23-17 (2OT), in what was the program’s first-ever game against a nationally ranked opponent. After Jacky Candy (2006) intercepted a Blue Devil pass right near the goal line in the second extra session, Erik Cwalinski (2005-08) hooked up with Mario Hines (2004, 2006-07) for a game-winning 14-yard touch-down pass on 3rd-and-12. That contest against the Blue Devils remains the only home game in RMU history to go into overtime.

For Starters - When Robert Morris took the field for its 2013 season opener at No. 19 Eastern Kentucky, it sported its 22nd different starting lineup on offense in its last 24 games. Due to injuries and changes with the depth chart, RMU actually used 11 distinct starting combinations in its 11 games last year. In the season before that, the Colonials used nine different offensive starting lineups. The starters actually stayed the same for three straight weeks in October 2011, but RMU has had changes in its lineup from one week to the next since that point. Over the course of the last three seasons, 31 distinct Colonials have started on offense at least once with the latest newcomer to that group being quarterback Paul Jones.

Head Coach-In-Waiting John Banaszak

Robert Morris University Director of Athletics Craig Coleman, M.D., announced Jan. 24, 2012 that RMU Assistant Head Football Coach John Banaszak has been named the program's coach-in-waiting. Banaszak, who has spent the last 10 years as an assistant coach and assistant head coachwith the Colonials, will take over for current head coach Joe Walton at the conclusion of the2013 season. "Coach Walton has done a tremendous job starting the program from scratch and developing it to its current level," Coleman said. "We are blessed to have another outstanding coach on our staff in Coach Banaszak to provide leadership and excellence when Walton retires." The 2012 season marked Banaszak's 10th season as a member of the Robert Morris footballcoach staff, including his fifth campaign as assistant head coach. Among his many duties with the program, Banaszak is responsible for tutoring the defensive line and the special teams unit. During Banaszak's time at Robert Morris, the Colonials have led the Northeast Conference intotal defense four times (2004, 2006, 2009 and 2010) and have finished in the top five in theleague on nine occasions. Banaszak was a key component to a 2010 defense that led the NEC in total defense, allowingan average of 312.6 yards per game, and coaching a defensive line that recorded 13 of RMU's21 sacks as the Colonials claimed the NEC's inaugural berth in the FCS Playoffs. In 2006, Banaszak helped tutor an RMU defense that led I-AA in total defense, allowing anaverage of just 228.36 yards per game. Under Banaszak's guidance, former defensive lineman Ray Gensler (2003-06) tied the RMUsingle-season school record for sacks with 11 in 2006 en route to earning All-NEC First Teamhonors. Gensler also established a then career record in sacks with 19 thanks to 11 in 2006, andthe Robert Morris defensive line that season recorded 28 and-a-half of RMU's school record 34sacks. Eight of the 11 players in school history to earn All-NEC recognition on the defensive line have come under the tutelage of Banaszak, including Nolan Nearhoof (2009-12), the 2012 NEC Defensive Player of the Year, the fourth Colonial to win that award in Banaszak’s time at RMU. Prior to RMU, Banaszak served as the 30th head coach in Washington & Jefferson footballhistory, leading the Presidents to a record of 38-9 (.809) in his four seasons on the sidelinesbetween 1999 and 2002. In each of those four campaigns, he was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and ranks third on the college's all-time victory list. A 1975 graduate of Eastern Michigan with a bachelor's degree in health, physical educationand recreation, Banaszak signed as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to the 1975season and was one of only three rookies to make the defending Super Bowl champion teamout of training camp. Primarily a special teams player on Pittsburgh's Super Bowl X championship team, Banaszakstarted five games the following season and then started at both right end and inside tackle in1977 before suffering a knee injury that forced him to the injured reserve list. Between 1978 and 1980, Banaszak started 45 regular-season games at defensive end as the Steelers won back-to-back Super Bowl championships. In Super Bowl XIII, Banaszak recorded six tackles, including a pair of sacks, and a fumble recovery in a 35-31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, which garnered him Defensive Player of the Game honors. The following year in Super Bowl XIV, Banaszak finished with five tackles and a sack in a 31-19 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

Robert Morris in the 2012 NEC StatsWeekly Football Coaches Show - The RMU Football Coaches Show, featuring both head coach Joe Walton and head coach-in-waiting John Banaszak is set to make its debut for the 2013 season. The show will take place each Monday following a game at 7:00 p.m., beginning Sept. 9. Chris Shovlin, the voice of the Colonials, will host the show, which will air from various Buffalo Wild Wings locations in the greater Pittsburgh area. The show will air on ESPN Radio 970 AM and will be rebroadcast each Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. For a com-plete schedule of locations each week, please visit www.rmu.edu/coach.

Get To The Chopper - A quick glance at RMU’s record when broken down proves how important it is the Colonials get off to a good start in contests. When Robert Morris is leading at halftime, the program owns an all-time record of 86-12 (.878). When trailing at the break, Robert Morris owns a mark of 11-67-1 (.146). Even going into halftime tied is beneficial, as the Colonials own an overall record of 13-8 (.619) in such games.

The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994 there have been 73 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 68-5 (.932), including a record of 40-5 (.889) in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 28-0.

RMU Football Historical Tidbits - The inaugural running back at Robert Morris, the late Tim Hall (1994-95), rushed for 2,908 yards in his two seasons as a Colonial. Hall still owns the FCS season and career records for yards per carry, with his season record of 8.7 yards per carry set in 1994 and his two-year career record of 7.4 established in 1994 and 1995 ... Hall also ranks fourth all-time in the FCS in both rushing yards per game (153.1) and all-purpose yards per game (194.8) ... Former Colonial linebacker James Noel (2002-05) ranks fifth in the FCS record book for career tackles per game (10.7), while his career tackle total of 437 takedowns ranks 12th all-time ... Former linebacker and current assistant coach Alex DiMichele (2008-10) averaged 10 tackles per game over his three years in a Robert Morris uniform, which ranks 11th all-time in the FCS record book ... Robert Morris has led the nation in passing defense twice in the past 13 years. The Colonials topped the charts in both 1999, when they conceded just 80.80 yards per game through the air, and 2006, when they allowed only 88.70 yards per game via the pass.

Did You Know? - Robert Morris owns the all-time FCS record for the most consecutive quarters while holding an opponent scoreless. During the 1996 season, the Colonials went 15 straight quarters without allowing a single point. In fact, the record-setting streak occurred at the beginning of the sea-son. RMU posted three straight shutouts -- 20-0 against Mercyhurst (9/7), 38-0 against Butler (9/14) and 7-0 against Towson State (9/21) -- to open the campaign and then held Central Connecticut State (9/28) scoreless for the first three quarters before finally allowing a point for the first time all sea-son. In all, Robert Morris went 234:04 before allowing a point in 1996. RMU went 9-2 (.818) in 1996, claiming a share of the NEC championship, and con-ceded just 12.9 points per game.

Colonials in the NFLSince Robert Morris played its first season in 1994, three former Colonials have appeared in a game in the National Football League (NFL), the most among current NEC members in this time span. Many players have “rewritten” record books at various schools. At Robert Morris, however, Tim Hall wrote the record book. Hall rushed for 2,908 yards on 393 carries in his two seasons in a Colonial uniform and was named an All-American by the Associated Press in 1995. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round (183rd player overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft. In 1997, he led the Raiders in yards per carry average with 5.2 and was second in rushing yards to Napolean Kaufman. On Sept. 30, 1998, Hall was shot and killed in Kansas City at age 24. Hank Fraley, who played on the offensive line for Robert Morris from 1996-1999, carved out a niche for himself in the NFL for over a decade. Fraley was a three-time Mid-Major All-American during his years at RMU before he was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a free-agent contract in April 2000. Fraley was later claimed by the Eagles and started at center for Philadelphia for the entire 2001 season, helping the team to the 2002 NFC Championship game. For four straight seasons with Fraley starting at center from 2002-05, the Eagles appeared in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Fraley became the first RMU alum to appear in the Super Bowl when he started at center against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Former RMU defensive back Robb Butler played for the San Diego Chargers during the 2004 season and was featured in special teams situations, including returning kickoffs.
