S. Chang (Seoul:KoreanBibleSociety,2005).Itdoesnot,however,aimtoexaminethe translationitself,nordoesitgointodetailedcriticismofthisvolume.Instead,it introduces the commentary to Korean readers who are not well informed in the area of NewTestamenttextualcriticism.Firstofall,thepaperemphasizestheimportanceof thecommentary,whichwillguidenotonlyscholarsbutalsostudentsandreadersin general in the performance of text-critical work for their own research. The paper also summarizessomepartsofthetextualcommentaryandintroducestrendsinmodern scholarshiprelatedtothesubjectsdiscussed,pointingoutboththestrengthsand weaknessesofthisvolume.Inaddition,ittriestoshowhowwecanbringthis commentary into actual use. One of the most valuable contributions of this textual commentary is the fact that it helpsustounderstandhowourNewTestamentcametousoveraperiodofalmost 2,000years,introducinghowtextualvariantscameintobeing,andshowinghowitis possible to distinguish original readings from the others. It is especially to be hoped that this Korean version of the textual commentary will awaken the interest of students of New Testament textual criticism in Korea.
