Evaluation Part 6What have you learnt about

technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Blogger‘Blogger’ is blog-publishing website (service) provided by Google. I used this to present all my AS coursework, including my production, as a portfolio. I found it very helpful as I was able to post my work simply. Using this website taught me a lot about the platforms my work can be presented, also creating the effect of a journey. An online portfolio is more efficient as it is more interactive, visually satisfying and accessible for the public rather than a printed off portfolio, which is restricted to those with limited access to it

InDesignIndesign is an Adobe desktop publishing software, used to create posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers and books. I previously used InDesign to produce my GCSE coursework magazine last year, therefore my skills were quite fresh in mind, knowing how to organise my layers, place images and text, consequently allowing me to layout my magazine neatly. I understood how to use it and didn’t find it as hard and time consuming. I used InDesign to create my complete magazine. This was effective as my final product looked quite professional and up to a high standard.

PhotoshopPhotoshop is an Adobe raster graphics editing software used to edit photography to high standards. I previously used Photoshop for the same reason this time, editing photos for my GCSE coursework magazine, allowing me to save time trying to understand it as I knew the basic, need-to-know skills. Using this software allowed me to edit photos, removing flaws and blemishes, removing backgrounds and altering certain aspects especially on the model used for my main image. Photoshop also allowed me to change the colours and make the image look sharper and brighter. I found Photoshop effective as it allowed me to create a more professional looking photos.

PreziPrezi is a web-based presentation software and storytelling tool to present ideas on a virtual canvas. I’ve previously used this software a few times, therefore I knew how to present my work, however it is quite easy to understand. I used Prezi multiple times in my coursework as it allowed me to explain certain aspects of my magazine well by adding text and placing images wherever I wanted. Prezi also allowed me to design my presentation and choose themes and colour schemes I found it fun, effective and useful to engage readers.

SlideshareSlideshare is a web-based self publishing software, used to publish/upload Microsoft Office files easily. I previously used Slideshare for revision purposes, using other people’s online slides. This website was easy to use, and allowed me to effectively upload my work then directly embed the file to my blog. However, Slideshare isn’t as engaging for the reader as it is a basic presentation, although I did use it a few times for my written work.

SlidesSlides is also a web-based self publishing software as it is used to create presentation slides. I only used this once, and did not find it as effective as it was difficult to use. This software allowed various different aspects such as placing shapes, texts and images. However, it was quite confusing to use.

ScribdScribd is another web-based self publishing software, enabled me to upload files easily and directly embed to my blog. I only used it once or twice at the beginning of my coursework especially. However I decided to experiment with other sites, to add variety. I preferred Slideshare.

InfogramInfogram is a website that creates note-like form presentations. I quite liked this site as it allowed me to present my evaluation in an essay form, which looked professional. This site also enabled pasting of images, text and video files. It was not as engaging but was presented efficiently, but I only used it once for a part of my evaluation.

CameraA professional camera was used to take the photos for my magazine. This was extremely effective as this meant the photography quality was at a high standard and clear, allowing my magazine to look professional. In comparison to an iPhone or smartphone camera, using a professional camera was the best option. The outcome of using this was excellent as, after editing, my images looked magazine efficient.
